Update:
Spanish:
- watched the film "Harry Potter y la Camara Secreta" - no voy a escribir algo sobre esto, me paree que todo el mundo y los residentes de este foro en especial saben de que trata esta peli; solo qiero notar que pues porque se la novela casi de memoria comprendi todas frases en absoluto - me sorprendi porque tenia problemas de comprension con las pelis precedentes;
- listened to "Harry Potter y la Camara Secreta" to the end - all approx. 10 hours;
- "La Rebellion de Atlas" 115 pages covered.
Mandarin:
- worked at the second tale of the reader (characters, scriptorium);
- Anki 564 facts;
- did scriptorium of old Chinesepod dialogs (I find it usuful to review the old material from time to time);
- listened to Pimsleur II, units 9, 10.

Update:
Mandarin:
- again the second tale of the reader (almost finished);
- Anki 686 facts;
- studied two new Chinesepod dialogs about the broken mobile phone and the person who is not very good at computers;
- listened to Pimsleur II, unit 11.

Update:
- Escushe a dos capitulos de "Harry Potter y la Reliquas de Muerte" y tambien un poco a rtve;
- "La Rebellion de Atlas" 312 paginas leidas.
Mandarin:
- finished working with the tale: wrote a couple of lines of every unknown character (there are many of them), Anki (words, phrases, sentences), scriptorium, listening - it's really stimulating to listen to the authentic story and understand everything;
- worked at the text of Unit 2 (textbook);
- studied "Morning Hygiene" and "Office Policy: Internet" from ChinesePod;
- a bit of Pimsleur.
Plans for March:
- Pimsleur
- Assimil (finish it at last - the Russian version has only 90 dialogs, no eercises);
- textbook.

Update:
Spanish:
- "La Rebellion de Atlas" 398 pages covered.
Mandarin:
- Assimil - 4 dialogues studied (in the way I always study the dialogues, not just flipping through as it is supposed);
- Pimsleur Mandarin II 11-18;
- shadowed some ChinesePod elementary dialogues:
- Anki 746 facts.
Lately my whole family has been down with a flu, now my elder is at last in the kindergarten and spouse at work, so I can indulge a bit into doing what I want. So I have been watching youtube poliglots' videos. I definitely liked Steve Kaufmann's videos, he has such a charismatic personality, he states his views and opinions clearly so that it is easy to follow his thought. I am not surprised that so many people like him and his method. When I was watching his video concerning teachers I had the desire to give up my profession as futile, ha-ha. I disagree with him that it is better to have a good native speaker to guide you than a qualified teacher; for some people it may work, but for children or those who haven't had any previous experience of learning languages it hardly holds true. A qualified teacher knows how to present the material in a comrehensive way; a good teacher knows the tricks that help better understanding and retention of the material. And the games and other classroom tricks can be of use for this purpose.

dragonfly, seems you're making good progress. Looks like you're adding perhaps 150 new cards to Anki every two weeks or so. That pace isn't bad :) Try to keep that pace as long as you can - the more common material will start to reappear by itself very soon, and you'll need quite some more words in order to make heads or tails of native text and audio. It'll help you later if you cram it a bit in the beginning :)

Indeed, native speakers tend not to know how to explain something or why things are the
way they are unless they have a background in teaching. Even for experienced language
learners a teacher can make a difference - I'm pretty sure Volte wouldn't have picked
up Latin in 72 hours otherwise.
Here's a video you should enjoy:

I also like this guy's other videos.

Thanks, Pyx. I hope, this year nothing will distract me from language learning (as pregnancy last year, when the only thing I wanted was to have a sleep). I'll do my best. The thing is, those Anki entries are not only words. I also enter phrases or sentences they are in as I'm a great believer in context. So, my pace is not as fast as it may seem.
Sprahprofi, I really enjoyed it, especially the piece that goes (roughly): how dare you waste my precious time not doing your best in my classroom. May come of use :)

Sorry, I shouldn't have written 'words'. I'm using sentences and phrases myself :)
