Handbook of Korean Vocabulary

Is an incredible book.
If you use it correctly.

I use it to reinforce things I already know.

I know 결정 means decide.
If I see it in Handbook of Korean Vocabulary it says
결정
결--decide

Well, anytime I see 결 I can just feel more comfortable that I know the word.
And also, when I see other words with 결, it is like I already know half the word.

판결--Judgement decision
판--judge
재판--trial.

Anyway, I love that book, Handbook of Korean Vocabulary.

I bought it yesterday, after noticing that I was learning so many synonyms, all of which seemed pretty similar to each other. Here's hoping it will give me a second wind!

I have been lazy for a couple of days.
Still studying but I feel I am putting in the right amount of effort.

Ok,

독 could mean
독약
독립
독자,,, 난독증.

Also,
다 한우 라고 해요.
They all say, Korean Beef.

Today, I realize, I cannot study Korean at work anymore.

This is really, bad.
I used to study many hours at work.
I am very disappointed.

Well, that means I will move my anki time to early in the morning, and lunch time.

This means much less sleep and less study time.
I have got to get more effective, and find free time.

Why can't you study Korean at work anymore? Angry boss? Regulations against anki?

My, job.

I teach one-one English classes to adults at a company.
I teach them AJATT and Antimoon methods.
I tell my students that they must study for themselves and 학원s are mostly a waste of time.

Well, my supervisor. Does not like it.
My students, the ones who actually follow, love it. The ones that are not motivated or don't actually do the methods correctly, don't like it.

I think, the idea, that you can actually learn another language without going to a 학원 is so revolutionary that they cannot see the logic behind it.

It is kind of like when I first saw Dr. Arguelles's method for "Shadowing". At first, I thought it was silly. It took me months to realize that it is a brilliant idea.

So, even if you have a wonderful idea. People will still find a reason doubt.

I guess people have been subject to public education so much. Especially during high school, that it is hard to believe that those teachers could be wrong. Korean teachers must get respect right?

Well, I tell them that Korean high school, and Korea private academies, are a waste.
If fact the whole, 수능, and SKY school system is a horrible and wrong system.
Sorry to pick on Korea, the US has big problems to, but I am focusing on Korea, I live here.

Furthermore, most foreigner teachers here, have no experience teaching or learning languages. Especially, the Canadian, US teachers here. They are mono-lingual and never even try to learn more than a few phrases.

Some Koreans are happy if they see a white guy teach them something like "It's raining cats and dogs". Then he might tell some jokes, get everyone to laugh, he collects his money and goes. Everyone is happy, but there is no serious learning.

Sorry to go on about that, and perhaps this is a little bitter. Please, understand I just go into an arguement about this, and I am a little upset.

Study,

I did pattern books,
3 hours today.

My comprehension is growing.
I hear so much more.
And now, when I learn a word. I learn it much faster.
I just feel so much more comfortable with the sounds.

I am really excited about improving my Korean.

Sometimes, I just want to study full-time.
Also, I cannot wait to start another language.

French? Italian? Spanish?
Something easier than Korean, something cool.
French is great for showing off.
Italian is great for Fashion.
Spanish is useful.

They are all great....

Today, I learned

난--하곤 했다==I used to.

난 American Football, 하곤 했다.
난 그와 놀러 다니곤 했다.
난 택새를 타곤 했다.

I find this to be very useful.

를 보러 다녔다.--I shopped around for.
PMP를 보러 다녔다.
원름 아파트를 보버 다녔다.

I really like these expressions. They are not that hard, and they make my Korean sound a little more fluent.

I am going to try more Ratatouille.
This is a great movie for learning languages.
Most the words are about cooking, so I can follow the story easily.

I am starting to become interested in French things.
I cooked Crepes this morning.

I have a few Korean friends that want to learn French.
Perhpas we can do this together.
