Slow and steady.. that's the best you can do when you get a job and get married

Wait until you have seven kids like I do. You'll wonder what you used to do with all your free time.

Point.

I'm grateful for the free time I still have.

One different language for each kid at story time?

On average, how many hours a day do you study your target language(s)?

It depends. Sometimes I do really nothing, but usually i'll learn about one hour a day. I could spend my whole day with languages if I had the time for it. Sometimes, i'm frustrated to make only a very few progress because I didn't spend enough time to learn.

The way I look at it, any time I have that is free, I spend studying. Instead of playing videogames, I just study. :)

I take my flashcards with me in the train, or learn when I have to wait. I even learn on the toilet. And sometimes I converse with myself in the other language. It's effective to use these moments, what you'll learn sticks much better.

My wife is currently pregnant with our first child and I'm sure that it is going to significantly reduce my study time unless I make some time. Maybe something along the lines of how Prof. Arguelles does it by getting up very early to study.

Roughly 1-1,5 hours of listening per language - German, Russian and Chinese. Not a problem since I can do other things at the same time. If I have more listening time, I usually devote it to Chinese. I save LingQs and do flashcards during other computer based activites. I read (Swedish/English/German/Russian/Chinese/Spanish/French) whenever I have time. I leaf through grammars.

According to the study chart (a spreadsheet once shared by ProfArguelles) which I update weekly, my daily "average" is (now) 6,24 hours.

Wow, I'm in awe. Particularly since Jeff is my countryman and studying the same languages as me, plus a little something extra.... namely Chinese!
I know this isn't hype - I wish I was as motivated / organised.

I take my MP3 player to work and listen to Russian, Japanese and Spanish as I'm working. I read a couple of news stories on Euronews.net when I get home from work. I'll leaf through grammar when I feel like it. So for each language I spend around 2 hours though I might start a spreadsheet to see what I'm actually doing.
