Due to all the interaction between Finland and Sweden (Finland used to be a part of Sweden), Finland is included in the group of Scandinavian countries, and rightly so. |

FYI, Finland isn't a Scandinavian country.

There are two common definitions of Scandinavia:
1) Sweden + Denmark + Norway
2) Sweden + Denmark + Norway + Finland + Iceland + Faroe Islands + Greenland
In Scandinavia, or at least in Norway, "Scandinavia" is very often used to refer to Sweden, Denmark and Norway
only, whereas the whole lot is referred to as the "Nordic countries".

Well this certainly is news to me. You must be talking about your own particular
region. In Trøndelag we regard Finland as a Scandinavian country.

For the purposes of this thread, Finland is included as either a Scandinavian or Nordic language, depending on how you slice the pie. Either way, Finland is in.
I have been too busy with other things and haven't updated the thread for a while but will shortly. In the meantime, if you wish to debate whether Finland is a Scandinavian country or not, I suggest we start a thread for that. I am, however, strongly in favour of reserving this thread for information on language resources of the languages listed in post one.

Test your Swedish: http://www.folkuniversitetet.se/templates/PageFrame.aspx?id= 19417
As an off-topic remark, Folkuniversitetet offers similar tests for English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German as well. Since the site is a bit chaotic here is the direct link:

Norwegian:
Free legal music downloads from a Norwegian rap group called Gatas Parlament (one of my
favourites): link
Right-click on the underlined songs and click Save as..
Free legal TV programme downloads from NRK, the Norwegian state broadcaster:
link
Downloads are .torrent files, so you need a torrent program to download them. I'd
recommend µTorrent. It's completely legal for those
of you who are uncertain about .torrent files due to various industries's offensives
against the whole concept. The files are uploaded and hosted by NRK itself.
