Ja, das heisst "A Frequency Dictionary of French", von Routledge.

Jack

I second what Kuikentje said – so sorry to hear about that! I really hope you get prescribed something good to get rid of the migraines. I'll be sending good wishes for health your way! *hugs*

Hello everyone,
So, I am finally healthy again. About a month ago as anyone may remember, I went to the doctor and they diagnosed me with migraines, for which they gave me some kind of medication. So, to cut a long story short, I was still unable to go to classes and hardly even get out of bed, and went to hospital. They did some scans and tests which absolutely fascinated me despite some being quite painful (and I had a chat in German about what was going on with one of the consultants) and they told me that an old condition that I was born with had flared up again - I don’t remember the last occurrence of it because I was far too young. So, one case of brain surgery and nearly 20 (now removed) stitches later, I’m back and ready to go!
I finish my exams on May 20th, after which I will possibly have a few more pieces of coursework to catch up on that I missed during all this chaos, then I will be free to do what I like. I am eager to do a lot of travelling this summer, probably including France, either with my girlfriend or with my dad’s family, or both, as well as Germany, where I may stay to do a language course. I am not usually one to ask for anything much, so my father suggested that I go off to Germany to do a language course there for a few months. It may involve staying with a family if that’s what I want to do, at quite a bit of extra cost, but it’ll be worth it so I’ll consider that. There’s also the opportunity to do a TEFL course in a lot of places around here so I may do that. My new plan is to learn as many words for French and German as possible, with French being the priority, as it is causing friction between my girlfriend and me. Such is life, so bring on the challenge :]

Oh cool, do you know yet where you want to go in France? My family and I will be in Brittany for a little while this summer. It's unlikely that you and I would overlap chronologically/geographically, but it would be so cool to meet up... :)
I think doing a homestay in Germany is a fantastic idea, and one that would be especially beneficial at your stage, because you can already communicate so well. I did a homestay with a sweet Southern German woman when I was still a beginner, and although it was a great experience, my struggles to speak at that stage were still quite frustrating, although she had the patience of a saint and never spoke English with me. :)

Glad to hear you are doing better. Do spend time in France or Germany, absolutely the best way to work on the language (well, besides marrying a local).
