Over the past couple of months have put language studies well to the side in pursuit of
other interests. There isn't enough hours in the day I guess..well actually I tend to blow a lot of hours doing nothing at all productive. I know this world here at HTLAL is still turning and I haven't been very far away. But with little or no active study there's little to report back here with. Funny how I have become so detached from what was a very important part of my life just a few months ago. Well honestly I don't feel the spark at the moment to hit the books running so this hiatus will continue but not indefinitely. Must break nasty habits which have formed (but don't we all ). Thanks to Prof Arg. who's video parable of the razor momentarily has inspired me, at least for a few hours, back into the language learning sphere. I did follow with keen interest all the happenings in Cannes already 2 months away. I ate up all the French podcasts reviewing and critiquing the films during the festival. Thank God for the French and their love of cinema. Nobody, I repeat, nobody can do it better. I have the choice here between X-men and Transfomers 3. Woe is me. Also relishing watching Le tour de France at the moment. To the team will be back soon and with renewed vigour. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I'm with Buttons on this one - if you don't feel like tackling languages right now, then it's probably for a good reason. You've worked long and hard on French over the last couple of years and made immense progress. To be honest, your French LR log from 2009 was initially a big inspiration for me joining the forum, and you exceeded all expectations in 2010. So if anyone deserves a break, it's you mate. I'm just happy that you popped in to let us know how everything's going, and when you're ready to return to studies, I'm sure I speak for the others in saying that Team KEN is 100% behind you!
Incidentally, I've been watching a few French films myself recently. I particularly enjoyed "Mesrine: L'ennemi public no. 1" (parts 1 and 2), "La haine" and "Un prophète" this week.
