I'm too 'young' to remember the days when we didn't have votes, but since I discovered them (just open your eyes and READ the screen - lol) I always find myself checking if my vote count goes up, as a good way to keep myself from making too much noise and say useful things instead. So I vote to keep the voting system, and keep it 'positive' (although I think we should have positives and negatives in politics).

Also, I'm not sure what the difference between "thumbs up" and "vote as useful" would be, but that problem can be solved by having two separate buttons. That would bring up the problem of 'votes before vs after' though, so it's probably not a good idea right now.

However, new 'accidental' votes can be easily avoided by simply moving the 'vote' link to the right of the quote and report buttons. I could even help with that if the know-how is needed (I hope it isn't!).

Maybe not entirely. One time I accidentally clicked it because my cursor was over it and when I tried to move my cursor with my track-pad it clicked it instead(it clicks if I tap it.)

There are two different types of polls. The maker of a poll can decide whether to create a "one vote per person only" - poll, or a poll which allows several votes per person. It depends on the initial question, which poll makes more sense to create.

For example: If you have the question: "Which resources do you use for language learning?" it makes sense that you vote for "books" "dictionaries" "audios" alltogether. If you have the question "Should be visible who voted?" this is a typical yes/no alternative, so in this case only one vote should be allowed.

This specific poll has the nature that only one choice is correct because the alternatives exclude each other. If I had created this poll, I would have chosen to let only one vote count. Unfortunately, it's technically not possible to change the type of poll afterwards. So we have to accept it as it is.

I think that there is a bug here because the poll allowed me to vote twice. I voted the first time and for some time afterward there was a message indicating that I had already voted. But then this was replaced by the original "cast your vote" message.

I'm watching to see if my voting capability gets reset again, and when. I made a second vote not to mess up the poll results, but to check for a problem.

I thought this poll belonged in the technical room but I think polls don't function at all (?) in some forum rooms and I don't recall which ones. It seems that we have some poll-related bugs.
