It seems unclear if I could sign up here. :) I'd love to participate in a Spanish group.
Am I too late?

Count me in for Dutch! I already have a low intermediate level (mostly passive) and I want to bring my Dutch up to a solid B2 by the end of the year, so this is just the motivation I need right now.

Sorry, I was in Ukraine at the International Youth Congress of Esperanto until
yesterday.
I've updated the Twitter bot now and registration is possible. Instructions on
how to register and how to post updates are at
http://6wc.learnlangs.com/howto . A sample registration tweet: @6WCBot I
want to #register to study #German intensively in August. #HTLAL user; working #full-
time.
Working #full-time means that you're employed or otherwise busy with non-language stuff
for 40 hours a week, so there are few hours left for language study. This was often
misunderstood in the previous challenge.
The challenge starts on August 1st and runs until September 12th, both at
midnight your time (the bot has a grace period to accommodate participants coming from
different time zones). That means that on the last day of July, stay up until it's
August 1st where you live, and then start studying your target language like crazy!
I noticed that this forum's glossary still defines the 6 Week Challenge as 30 minutes a
day; that hasn't been true for years. The 6 Week Challenge is about studying your
target language as much as you possibly can, and finding innovative ways of squeezing
in extra study time. You can only have one target language. Most participants will be
studying German or French, but there should be a sizable group for Russian as well. I
personally will be studying Arabic. You can study any language you want. It's just
nicer to study a language as a group because you can help each other more. You are not
supposed to abandon your other languages entirely in favour of this new one - the bot
does give you points for maintaining your other languages, though not as many as for
studying your avowed target language.
I had to move the previous challenge's stats to another page. They are now accessible
at http://6wc.learnlangs.com/stats/earlier in order not to be confused with
the ongoing challenge's stats.
Any questions?

Sprachprofi, I just tried sending you a PM about the setup for the challenge but it looks like your inbox is full. Could you try deleting a few messages if it's not too much trouble? Thanks.
EDIT: Okay, it went through. Thanks! Oh, and in case I haven't already mentioned it in this thread, I'm going to be participating for Russian.

I have a question: I'm going to be in China for most of August so my access to Twitter
will be limited/cut off entirely. Would it be okay for me to log my hours (say, in a log
on the forum) and send them to the bot when I got back?
Also, whilst I'm there I'm going to classes for Mandarin; would I be able to include
those in the hours studied? I only ask because this challenge seems to be about squeezing
in study time, whereas I'm specifically going to do this course... so I'm not sure. :)
Sorry if anything's vague/should be obvious to me, I just really want to take part again!
:D

Thanks for letting me know, ellasevia, I deleted some messages. It's strange, it said I
was able to receive 12 more messages before I even deleted any. Bad algorithm I guess.
Luna, you can post a big update upon your return, yes. And yes, you can count those
classroom hours. Think about how effective they are compared to what you'd do in self-
study. If class is too boring and you're dozing half the time, only award yourself 50% of
the time in your tweet.
Ditto for less intensive language time, such as watching movies, listening to podcasts
while doing something else, playing games and so on. Be honest about how much focussed
time this boils down to. The challenge is honour-based.
