So, after all, I joined. My first week will be spent mostly on a not target langauage-Latin and I need to study other things as well but even than, I believe I can progress quite a lot with German. And most importantly-I am excited about the challenge.

Hey guys, how is it going? After a very turbulent couple months and a late arrival I'm finally here!
I'm not sure about what to do, I have 3 languages in mind that I really want to sign up for: Thai, Persian,
and Pashto.
Problems: Thai: I was in the last challenge with Thai, but I don't want to dropped it;
Persian: I took two years at college, but I think I should know way more;
Pashto: My knowledge of it is slim to none;

So, which language should I pick for the challenge? Or which should I not? Should I sign up for all of
them? Equally or different percentages (60%, 25%, 15%).

Spracheprofi your opinion is a must!

Thanks a lot everybody and good luck on the challenge!!

Keep in mind that you're only choosing a main focus language - you can still work on
other languages as much as you want.

That's why I think you shouldn't do Thai again; you did it last time and you can still
do some work on Thai no matter which language you choose as your main target.

Is your Persian still at beginner level? If not, Pashto is the obvious choice. The 6
Week Challenge is about starting a new language (or one that you're still a beginner
at) and trying to bring it past the beginner stage. So I can't really decide between
Persian and Pashto for you. In my opinion, it would be awesome if you gave Esperanto a
try - 6 weeks should be all you need, seeing how you attacked Thai. What I mean is that
learning Esperanto is a limited-time project, unlike Japanese or Chinese (or Pashto and
Persian?) which you'd have to keep learning for basically your entire life.

JNetto, from your post, it seems that Pashto would be a great thing to do in the 6 weeks. Give yourself a nice kick off to success! :)

I agree that it would be nice to use the challenge to kickstart your Pashto if you're serious about it. On the other hand, 6 weeks might be the perfect amount of time to push your college-learned Persian to a new level. I'm doing Persian for the 6WC, so that's another +1 for Persian. :P

Hi !

It is possible to change my status from "part-time" to "full time" ? I have an unexpected huge load of work this summer - and have just been made aware of that.

Thanks,

I´ve been wondering the same thing. I found out a couple of days ago that because of a
shortage of colleagues, I will be working up to five days a week for the whole of August,
which is pretty much a full-time job.

Yeah, I really should do Pashto as target... After all there will be a lot of elements from both Arabic and
Persian in it anyways!
