Cihlomorka, you're welcome here, with or without Persian. =) There are a lot of us studying more than one language. =)
Just post a link to your log once you have it set up so we can follow it!

Kerrie and Gatsby42, thank you both very much, I am proud to become a member!
Now, I will go and enjoy all your posts as I already see there is much to read and there are some souls with much the same fate... :)
Here is the link to my new log. (I've already written some posts to give you a general idea about my French).

languages: French, Italian (and Persian)
I don't know how to associate my log with this group. E. g.I tried to add a direct link when mentioning my new membership but it was disabled due to some spammer protection which unfortunately also afflicts newbies' entries. Is there some other way, like adding keywords to my thread?

Bienvenue Cihlomorka! :) That is so funny to have understood old French better than
modern French!

What I enjoy most about old French is paleography (i. e. reading medieval charts). It gives you a unique feeling to reconstruct words of a man who lived centuries ago, yet often thought in a very "modern" way. Then there is of course the whole complicated system of abbreviations and ciphers since medieval scribes tried to save parchment and used many particular signs. Often it feels more like spying than doing research. :) But if you look at spoken medieval French, for example listen to reconstructions of minstrel chants it actually sounds rather Spanish. In any case, the Romantics used to understand each other much better once... ;)

Wow, 10 days away for an Easter holiday and so many interesting things happened on that forum!
Of course, welcome Cihlomorka and good luck with your studies! I've added the link to your log to the first post of this thread. I took French, Italian and Persian as the languages you study, shall I add Latin or Medieval French or Polish, too? (I wasn't sure, I just had a quick look at your posts).
Alors, bonne chance avec ton français! (On se tutoie, non?)

Just popping in quickly to wave hi to everyone!
I feel off a little in the last month, but I'm dusting back off and getting back on. Last night cracked open Assimil (I missed their corniness) and will hopefully get back to FIA this weekend.
