Back in the US after a fantastic six months in Spain with travelling on the side.
Here's what I bought during my trips:
-Assimil German with ease, book and cds
-Assimil El Catalan sin esfuerzo, book and cds
-Assimil El Frances sin esfuerzo, book and cds
-Assimil Le Croate, book only
-Learning Irish by Michael O'Siadhail
Trying to not start the Irish program.... My plan now is to start the French Assimil
and do it during the fall semester, then doing German in the Spring so I'll have a good
German/French base for professional reasons and hopefully they'll help my job
prospects. Plus, you make a lot of German and French friend on ERASMUS semester! So
for the forseeable future it's French for me. Croatian will be my side project now as I
enjoyed my trip to Istria but need to study up for future trips to Zagreb and Dalmatia.
Trying to consume media in Spanish, which isn't hard. Don't know when to add another
minor language, and whether it'll be Italian, Catalan, or Irish.

Have the first week of Assimil El Francés sin esfuerzo under my belt. Observations:
-I love how short the lessons are. Totally doable and I always want to skip ahead b/c
so. This is good for an all or nothing person like me.
-But am I remembering it? I am trusting in the method, and it only has been 10
lessons/days, but I'm worried that I'll have anything else besides "est-ce que vouz
avez du feu?"
Well have to see how it goes from here.
I would like to look at Croatian still before I get caught up with Middle Nahuatl, and
tyring to keep my primary focus on French until the first of the year. Need to refresh
Arabic major bad, and would like to start BRZ Portuguese... The semester is just
starting, so I'm hoping I can juggle it all.

Bonjour!
diplomirem i francuski, njemački i portugalski mi ponogmu više. Mogu nauručiti un
restoranu i ploviti oko grada na najmanje! Sviđa mi se hrvatski mnogo i volim se učiti
više u budućnostu. Moj odmor u Hrvatsku uživao sam dosta i vraćam se. Želim krenuti
Assimil Le Croate ali moj francuski nije dovoljan dobar.
Thinking of applying for a CLS in Turkish this summer! My discipline could be better,
and I'm trying to keep a study routine but it's hard when I study all day as it is.
Would like to start Portuguese and German now, and I really feel bad about Arabic going
by the wayside.

Well I did ok in 2012... haha
I lasted until the end of September, and then I started my job as well as doing school
so I had no time.
Recap: Croatian- I could've done more, but I got along fine while I was there, even
used my Croatian in Slovenia and was understood! Traveling there made me want to take
up Italian some time in the future. Would love to keep with Croatian on the side as I
loved the country and am now further intrigued by the interworkings of Slavic
languages.
Spanish- best it's ever been! I've lost my gaditano accent, but I can safely say that
any second language worries are now gone. I am fluent! Not to say I cant improve,
just I feel like I can use Spanish to live out my daily life without hesitation.
French. About 50% thru Assimil El Frances sin esfuerzo. Pronunciation is a lot
better, and I'm understanding the liasion a lot better. Grammar needs work though.
Love/hate relationship with French continues. Have desire to conquer it this coming
year.
Arabic- I neglected it. Really want to regain what I've lost since stopping taking
classes.
Here's to 2013! I'm going to be more focused this year, and give my time to 2
languages mainly, and have a few secondary ones to play with.
A bientôt!
hasta luego
مع سلاما
Bog!

Shouldn't you be on the Slavic-Romance TAC 2013 Team Nebun? You would fit right in!
It sounds like you made some serious progress last year! I'm looking forward to watching your progress in 2013. Good luck with all your studies!
