The May 2012 challenge is coming to a close soon (36.5 more hours for me, and more or less for others).

I just wanted to share that this has been my best challenge yet. I might not end in the top 10, but I'll be close. I have my personal highest number of hours in study, and perhaps even the greatest difference of skill from start to finish. I dusted off my Russian, which I haven't studied since high school. I have had so much FUN working with it, and I doubt I will ever neglect it the same way again.

Best wishes to the rest of you as you finish your challenges. :)

It's also my best challenge yet. I wish it went on actually. I always have hard time the first week, I do very little. So usually for me it's a 5 week challenge ;).

Yeah! I finished as eighth! Also, a something happened which hasn't occurred ever before. Someone won the second time. Another record is that someone won two consecutive challenges. Congrats for Woodsei!

Congrats!!!!

I was soooo close to winning on total hours... Or maybe not, because I'd chase Woodsei and then he'd post what he'd done over 2-3 days and I'd be second again.
Way closer to winning than the previous time though :P

My goal was never to get to first place with this challenge, but I think I've achieved
what I set out to do with the language. I had set a time limit for myself of what I
would do each day, so I knew that I'd never climb to one of the higher numbers. What I
was able to accomplish was consistency. I'm very happy with that.

It was a good challenge for me. I studied a language I probably wouldn't have studied
otherwise - and I'll continue to study it now that the challenge is over. Because it's
another romance language, albeit it a minority language, and most of my languages are
also romance languages, I didn't start from zero so I was able to progress fairly
quickly, I suppose.

Probably the biggest take-away from this challenge for me is that I just really enjoyed
it in and of itself, and because of it, I'll definitely participate in another one. I'd
never participated in one before, and I had a lot of fun with it.

R.
