I think it is urgent to do it before we are too numerous and we are unable to create a real team spirit and reading other logs becomes so time-consuming that it keeps us away from our own learning.
Also, because it might be too consuming at 1st to read 17-20 logs, I suggest that members only have to read the logs of people who study a language they study or speak.

You're contradicting yourself. So why did I start a new team if that's what this team is going to do? I gave up my spot on a team with all my old teammates, because no one was interested in that idea.

He does what he wants, that is not my point. It's one thing for the people who are registered to decide by themselves that they would rather be on Team Romance 2, it's an entirely different thing to exclude people. Basically, the only thing I am trying to say is that we can say "now we are closed for inscriptions, please contact Team Romance 2" but we should not kick-out people who have already registered.
Edit because you completely changed your post so my answer makes no sense anymore.
I don't see how I am contradicting myself. I think that 17-20 active logs to read is too much and I think that having a huge team is detrimental to the team spirit. Even if I am not reading everyone's log every day, I'd like to be able to know every member of the team a bit. I also think that if the team keeps growing, we could end up having to read 17-20 logs at first, even with subteams. For instance, even with 18 members and the modified sub-team idea, I would still have to read 16 logs. Of course, with the non-modified sub-team thing, that would only be 7 but I like the idea of helping each other.
You are the one who decided to create Team Romance 2 so I am surprised you ask me why you did it.

Let's not consider the creation of a new Romance team as a strict separation because we
still need to keep in touch along the challenge. After 2-3 months, I dont think the
participation of the team members of each team will maintain at high levels so we may
even need to merge Romance 1&2.
I have another suggestion : We can make a list of the current language levels of
members (approx. A1-C2 scale, or beginner-interm.-advanced) so that a beginner can
easily be aware of an other beginner and a B2/C1 level speaker can look for native
speakers or other advanced teammates. The reason comes from the fact that B2 level
Spanish speaker may not want to spend time on a beginner's log except for warning for
the waiting difficulties on the horizon and for encouragement.
There are some members who already declared precisely their language levels in their
posts. If others agree with this idea, please drop a message here and I'll create a
list. Then we can also merge it with deadscreen's post on the 1st page.
fireballtrouble : B2 French, C1 English, A German, native: non-romance(Turkish)

Wow, gone for two days for finals, and the discussion really heats up!
First, I'd like to say that I'm sorry if I offended anyone with the poll. Kerrie, I did
not mean to leave your suggestion out of it, in fact I think I may have misunderstood.
The "No division, everyone reads languages logs of their chosen language" was a poorly
worded way to suggest we all stay the same team, but if we are studying Spanish, we
only read Spanish logs, etc. Is that what you were intending with the sub-teams?
As for if this team is closed, I am not sure. I was not suggesting we kick people out,
though I did not know that "closing" the sign up with only those already listed would
be doing that. I thought we had mostly first-year TACers, so I didn't know that we had
people who had previously been on teams together in here. Besides, it is still 2 weeks
until the end of the year, and who says we should have to make that decision now? Let's
not start any arguments over this and perhaps use the polling system that songlines
suggested.

Maybe you went too fast. You proposed your idea on 12th, and started the new team on
13th. I bet many people didn't even get online in that time.

Several people (Spanky, songlines, myself provided I had read it) showed interest in
that idea. As far as I remember, no one opposed it.
Nobody said either that this group is already closed.
I'd suggest creating a new poll on HTLAL, as songlines proposed (I can't do it), where
members of both groups would vote, with one of the options being your idea:
A single group, whatever size. You are only expected to read the logs of
teammates who share a target language with you. It would be nice if you would
also follow the logs of people who are studying your native language. (Of course,
you are more than welcome to follow everyone else, too.)

So, if people are only reading the logs of those that read their TL, how is that a TAC Team? It seems like just
another day on HTLAL.

I am posting this on the main sign-up thread and on all team logs.
This is a special announcement for all teams, certain ones more than others.
-The purpose of TAC teams is to support, help and encourage each other. “All for one and one for all.” That means reading each other’s logs, and commenting them where appropriate. It also means no more bickering.
- It the future all teams will be closed upon reaching 15 members, and new teams will be formed for those languages. Should a new team only attract a few members (about 5-7 depending on the team members prior TAC experience) by the sign-up deadline (31. January 2013), they will be merged with the original team. If in the course of the year, the teams lose half their members, they may also choose to merge. Any team that already has more than 15 members will not be divided, but they will not be allowed to add new members.
- Each team is to choose a team leader by Tuesday, 18 December. Inform me of your choice by then. The leader must have prior TAC experience unless there is no such person on the team. The leader is to keep me up-to-date regarding their team.
- I have created a French team and a Spanish team. Anyone studying those languages may choose to join them if they wish. The original Romance teams will remain in existence for those who are studying other Romance languages or who are interested in multiple languages. Note that even if you are only studying French or Spanish you may choose to be on a Romance team rather than a single language team. If there is enough interest for an Italian, Portuguese or Romanian team, I will create one. However, I would like those who may be interested in such a team to gather at least 5 team members before asking me to form the team.
I am sorry to have to make these additional rules, however it is obvious that certain teams are already on the verge of falling apart and a number of more experienced TAC members have noticed this and sent me PM’s requesting that I do something.
