I am thinking of setting up a stand-alone thread for the purpose of compiling language learning resources all in one place. There are figuratively speaking a ton of excellent learning resources recommendations and links spread through a number of threads within a number of different categories of this forum - the trick some of the time is just keeping abreast of the suggestions, some of which are clearly marked and other excellent ones which appear quietly in individual learning threads.
I am thinking of something like a living document which can be supplemented from time to time with everyone's recommendations - I can set up some placeholder posts and then add to them throughout the year as more come to mind, and that way there will be one organized place that in a few discrete posts will collate that information. I mostly work off internet resources currently, because I am cheap and too lazy to go buy something and because there is an amazing amount of internet resources available, so I will probably start with internet based material.
What do you think, and if this approach is helpful, what categories would be useful to set up?
I am thinking of the following so far, but would love to have your thoughts:
A General category - things like wordreference, yabla, lang-8, logoslibrary, etc - stuff that would be of interest across a number of the romance languages being studied by our team mates.
Then specific resource categories for each of the romance languages being pursued (French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish) - a separate post for each category.
If any of you thought it of use, we could also have separate posts within the same Romance Team resource thread for recommended movies, TV shows, radio.
Any thoughts?

it would be a fantastic idea to have separate lists and breakdown by language of some of the more useful and vetted resources available. i get a bit overwhelmed and frustrated by a lot of what i am finding online...there seems to be a lot of sifting through the dirt in order to find the gold...i don't want to waste time searching when i could be maximizing my learning. any help in this regard would be VERY appreciated.

Might I also suggest starting a new "Romance Team 1" thread? It might be nice to have
a new thread clearly listing the current members and their logs to get this team
started off on the right foot.
I really like your suggestion of a language resource thread, Spanky. This team is
going to be great. I have faith we can make it. From the split we will rise! Vive le
phénix!

I really need to go to bed.
Thanks again to those willing to step up.

Hi guys!
I'm having trouble finding a leader for this team and am considering taking the job myself, though I would like Spanky to be my co-leader as long as he can.
If you think it's a good idea, I would also like to start completely afresh and will make a new thread for this team. That way I will have the ability to edit the first few posts.
I wish to make the thread in a similar manner to the Japanese team thread.
The first post would contain an introduction to the team and links to all member logs.
The second post would be a list of links, divided by language like this: general links for various Romance languages, links for Spanish, links for French, etc.
The third post would be my explanation of the last few days. My plan worked to some extent though not entirely in the way I intended. This team has proven to be very tough and I think that with a little guidance you have the potential to be a strong and successful team.

We would love to have you. I think we could all benefit from a little organization.

Hi Brun Ugle, I agree with Travis. You have a talent for organizing and the team would
definitely benefit from your involvement if you are up for it. I am pleased to
continue to act in whatever capacity would be considered helpful.
I had the same thought as that suggested by Travis and now endorsed by you, about
starting a new thread. I was of two minds about it, because rebooting entirely with a
new thread means losing some of the helpful information and suggestions already put
forward. But given that some of the earlier posters on the thread are no longer here,
and many of the latter half of the posts here are just of an administrative nature,
perhaps it is best to start clean.
By the way, I think the team name "Romulan" is now green-lighted - I did not receive
any PMs expressing opposition to the name following my post yesterday on the issue.
Regarding your suggestion above about devoting the second post of a new team thread to
links, I wonder whether one single post across French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese
would be sufficient? Even just dealing with general and French-related links, I can
think of perhaps fifteen links off the top of my head to contribute, and with
contributions from the whole team across all the languages, one single post might
become too cumbersome. Perhaps we can start as you suggest with this as a single,
front-loaded post in a new team log, and see where that gets us and if necessary, we
could roll out that information subsequently down the road into a stand-alone thread
with separate, more easily navigable posts for each separate area if it seems necessary
or useful at that time. Or if you like, I can do up a stub of a mock-up stand-alone
thread just to give a sense of what it might look like just for illustrative purposes,
but probably not until this weekend.

I started a new team thread.
I thought of the same thing as you about the links, Spanky, so I made several pages for them.
Romulan team thread.

It's good to see this team overcoming the bumps in the road and getting back on it's feet. Good job Brun & Spanky on reviving it. Good luck next year!
