Thanks for creating the thread!
I'm Gary, a 25 year old Scottish guy. I'm a Web developer, heavy metal guitarist, and keen language learner...
I'm working on French and Italian. My French is advanced but not exactly fluent - between B2 and C1 - so this year I'll be trying to improve it further, particularly active skills and pronunciation. I'm conversational in Italian but I still have a lot to learn; I think I'm quite a solid B1 at the moment and I'm aiming for B2, or in other words, trying to expand my knowledge and to speak more fluidly and correctly.
I also want to start learning Spanish, but not until I reach a satisfactory level in French and Italian, which may or may not be in 2013. I think my Italian goal is realistic but I'm not sure about French - C1 in a foreign language is still uncharted territory for me and so far it's proven to be much more work than I had anticipated!
This will be my third TAC. I haven't started a log yet but my TAC 2012 log is online. I like the idea of a Skype group (my username is gaz514, feel free to add me) but I have a fairly busy life so committing to a regular meeting time will be difficult.

Thanks for the thread,
My name is Utku, I'm 21, studying medicine. I'm a native speaker of Turkish, advanced in
English and something around a B2 level in French. In this team, I'll be focusing on
improving my French until a solid C1 (at least, I hope so :) ).
Currently, I'm participating in Assimil challenge with 'German' and I'll continue. As my
native language has no relations (grammar, vocab, pronunciation..) with any of the
languages I learn, I think it'll be quite challenging.
Good luck for all of us!

Hi Everyone,
My name is Travis. I'm 26 and I live in Japan, working as a graphic designer. I'm a
native English speaker but speak Japanese and ASL (American Sign Language) at an
advanced level. I also speak Korean at a basic conversational level and Spanish is
somewhere down there too. I've never done the TAC challenge before, but I'm very
excited to be participating on a team.
The language I'll be focusing on this year will be French. I've only been studying for
about 30 days or so and I've been working through Assimil's New French with Ease. I've
also been listening to some French music and watching Sienfield in French a little. I
don't have a language log yet, but I plan on starting one in the next week or so.
Best of luck everyone!

Hi TAC-mates,
my name is Quique, and I'm a 40 y.o. computer guy from Spain.
I speak Spanish natively, English, some French and Danish, and very basic German.
I studied French at school and high school, but that was 22 years ago, so it's rather
rusty. A couple of weeks ago I decided to study it again. I'd like to be back at B1
around Easter, and then keep going to reach B2 at the end of the year.
This is my first TAC. Here is my language log.

Ok guys, I've added those of you who gave me your Skype names to my Skype contacts.
Also, where are all the other girls at? I did not foresee being the only girl. Maybe
they will show up soon.
I would like to focus on building a strong team this year, so that we can all help each
other out whenever we falter in our dedication. I think using Skype as a conversation
tool is a really good idea, but we don't have to make it a super regular meeting. Once
a week or every other week for some, more often for others, whatever ends up working
out. It looks like our team represents a wide range of time zones, so I can definitely
see where a regular meeting time would be hard to figure out.
Something else I might be posting here in our team log are discussions about the
linguistics and history of Romance languages. I'm pretty interested in linguistics, and
I will be trying to learn about the linguistic history of both French and Spanish this
year aside from simply learning the languages. Contributions for other languages are
welcome, so maybe we will all learn some history this year.

I'd love to see this as an element to the log also, I find knowing the history of a
language helps motivate me to learn it.

I am excited to be part of this coming year’s TAC team for Romance languages.
I will be focussing only on French during this TAC period, though at some point in the future I have an interest in learning beginner’s level Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
Despite a poor history of stick-to-it-iveness on my part, I hope to be a regular contributor to the French part of this team environment.
I already have an ongoing log related specifically to French language study - "18 Months of French" - which I will continue using during TAC 2013.

Hi, everyone.
My name is Kerrie, and I'm a thirty-something year old English teacher. I live in the Midwest, not far from Chicago.
I'm studying Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Croatian, and will probably add Russian to that list next year. It's also possible I'll add Korean, Turkish and/or German at some point.
I'm glad to see lots of enthusiasm. Our team didn't have a lot of interaction last year (although I enjoyed reading a number of logs).
I will start a new log for TAC 2013, but here is my 2012 log. I'm excited for the new year, the new TAC, and new language goals. :)
