Hey, welcome to the club. :-P The most important thing is that you're still studying. I
saw from our TAC thread that you just finished Don Quixote in Dutch - congratulations! I'm
always impressed by how much you read.

This is so true.

(Note--nearly no editing, grammar checking, etc., essentially written off-the-cuff to see how well I could do.)

Well, that was an audiobook, but it did still take about 8 hours. At one point, the person recording it (a public
domain LibriVox recording) accidentally put the same chapter in twice, which was a bit annoying...

Assimil Russian: 50 lessons completed! Plus active wave, lesson 1. Lesson 1 is pretty trivial (hi, how are you, good
thanks), so quick and painless start to the active wave.

(Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), and making
good progress in Harry Potter e il Principe Mezzosangue (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince). I'm noticing that
reading both the Italian and the Russian is noticeably easier than it was a couple weeks ago.

This week I met someone who grew up speaking German, until his father made him learn Yiddish. He later learned
Hebrew in Israel, and now of course he speaks English, because he's American. He was an interesting character.
Afterwards, I sent him a text message in Yiddish, and then the next time I saw him he came and gave me a big hug.
Have a good week, everyone!
