Jeffers, I'm also very sorry to hear about your loss. You have my condolences.
Best of luck to everyone in their challenges.

Should we post updates here if we feel like it? |

Yes, as often or as rarely as you feel like. You could also do it on a personal log
(or both, if you really want to!) I only ask that you give a summary at the end of the
month.
So here's my update:
1. 35/300 vocabulary worked on. My Anki deck said I had 739 unknown cards, I've
worked on 75 cards, and now it says I have 610 unknown cards, so something's not
working.... and I was going to rely on my Anki numbers to track it.
2. 2/20 passive lessons of Assimil. I've done lessons 92 & 93. Actually, if I do 21
lessons I'll finish the book, so in fact I'll probably do that.
EDIT: I wrote down the wrong Assimil lesson numbers.

I have done the following lessons in Teach Yourself Russian Grammar:
April 1st: Lesson 27 (genetive plural)
April 2nd. Lesson 39 and 40 (adverbs).
And yes I know it is a weird place to start, and that adverbs were not even part of my original challenge, but it works better for me when I do the chapters when I need or feel curiosity for a certain point, and grammar is grammar :-)

Sunday evening update:
1. 60/300 vocabulary worked on. Pretty much bang on target... if I can keep up the pace! I have learned 25 cards (12.5 words) per day, but took a break from new words today.
2. 5/20 Assimil lessons studied. Lessons 92-96. I've done one every day, but took a break yesterday.
I've been thinking this weekend about the sabbatical principle: the idea of taking one day off per 7. I think I'll probably do that, but take my break from the two goals on different days. If I keep up the pace on the other days, that will still enable me to meet my two goals.

It's fine to join now, but could you be more specific about how many lessons of Pimsleur you plan to complete? Also, how many letters are there to learn of the alphabet? That way at the end you can write, "Completed x of y letters...".

Is it possible to amend a challenge?
- 10 duolingo's competencies from German to French
because I changed strategy... no problem if it's not possible.
