With that path, Esperanto might save one some time in realizing the goal.
For me personally, there must be some practical benefit to continue the ongoing time investment. That will trump other motivations, perhaps even the original goal itself.

I'd probably go for:
1. Italian (mothertongue)
2. English (well, it's pretty much the most important language in the world, so)
3. Japanese (I have a passion for the language and culture)
4. Chinese (same as above, coupled with possible job advantages in the future as a translator)
5. Korean (I enjoy it from the purely linguistical point of view, my personal experience with Korean people has been very nice and it would make sense to know all three major East Asian languages given my strong interest in the area)
6. Arabic (I am convinced Arab/Muslim culture will play a huge role in the future developments in the whole world, and I want to understand it for myself)
7. Russian (very elegant language)
8. Portuguese (the only Romance language I actually enjoy)
9. Hebrew (I very much like the language, and I am interested in Jewish culture)
10. French (I don't particularly like the language, but I already had to study it and my passive level is already decent, so why not)

4. Ancient Greek-To complete the Classics thing w/Latin
5. German-To have 3 Western European languages that are useful
6. Irish-For Irish heritage, and it interests me
7. Persian-To finally go for a non-European language
8. Swedish/Norwegian/Danish-Three languages for one, and Scandinavia seems like a good place to travel

I could probably get the first 6, maybe 7, of these.
