I'm glad someone revived this thread; I knew about this one from the "So you'd like to Learn 5 languages" thread. My first four are the languages I am currently studying plus at least 6 more.
1. Spanish
2. Afrikaans
3. Finnish
4. Swedish
I've already written (in other threads and sub-forums) about why I'm learning the languages above, but I will give reasons for wanting to learn the next six.
5. Hungarian (Another Uralic language with a very intriguing culture to go with it)
6. Inuktitut (copied from my post in the five languages thread, I like the syllabics used by Canadian Inuit. I'm drawn to Finnish, Hungarian and Inuktitut because they are agglutinative languages ...Woohoo!)
7. Polish or Russian (Both have complex, and therefore very fascinating, spelling systems; and I can't decide between them, but I won't delve into Slavic languages for at least a year.
8. Cantonese or Mandarin (Also copied from my 5 languages thread post. Hanzi characters are fun to try to write. I'd like to learn both, but in the real world I won't so in about 3 years I have another decision to make)
9. Arabic (most likely Modern Standard Arabic, but I do want to read the Koran, and learn at least one local dialect, plus the script is gorgeous)
10. Irish/Scottish Gaelic (my ancestors were Celtic as far as I know, and I wish to know more about them)
I don't really want to limit myself to 10 languages, but this list will be very long if I don't stop now. Spanish, Afrikaans, Swedish, and Polish or Russian are great introductions to most of the languages of Europe, so I left out German, Italian and Czech to name just 3 more I may consider.

3. Farsi
4. Hebrew
5. Arabic (Egyptian)
6. Hindi

and then on top of that, I'd still want to learn a few old languages, just to be able to read some really old stuff.
Sanskrit
Latin
Hieratic, middle Egyptian/hieroglyphics
maybe Gothic too?

1.) Russian
2.) French
3.) Spanish
4.) Hebrew
5.) Icelandic
6.) Turkish
7.) Mandarin
8.) Persian
9.) German
10.) Ancient Greek
I'd love to be able to learn all of these, and go back in time and speak Ancient Greek with the native speakers...but, that isn't likely.
