I know:
French
English
I'll be learning:
Mandarin- I'm going to China this summer and I'm really interested in Comparative Studies
Korean- Still for Comparative Studies
Japanese- Comparative studies and the culture
Thai -I'll be doing a trip to South Asia and as Thai is the same as Lao, i'll be doing two hits with one rock.
Spanish- It's easy to learn for a native french speaker and have a abundant literature.
Hindi- For Comparative Studies and my trip to South Asia.
German- For Philosophy and literature mainly
Russian- For its literature and the fact that I just love how it sounds
I'd like to be able to read:
Ancient Greek
Latin
Tibetan
Sanskrit
I want those four for the ancient texts
If it's good for me, it's good for anyone :P.

I am impressed to see so many people striving to learn as many languages as possible, however, isn't it expensive to learn (foreign) languages, not to mention the amount of time and effort needed to master a foreign language, let alone 10? :(

I think that the 10 most important languages that will be spreading in the future are :
1 English, the current lingua franca
2 Spanish : almost all people are learning it
3 Mandarin but it's too difficult to master it. It's a big disadvantage for its
expansion around the world.
4 Turkish : this language is easy and Turkey will have more and more influences.
5 Indonesian
6 Portuguese
7 Swahili ( the future lingua franca in Africa )
8 German
9 Arabic ( only because there's an increase of muslim people)
10 French
Italian, russian, japanese would be less important cause of demographic reasons.
The growth of a language depends on demographic, migratory factors and easiness

I don't see Swahili ever replacing English or French in Africa... (as much as I WOULD like Swahili to replace them). Plus as far as I know there are too many Swahili dialects spread in east Africa, so that's another big problem: even if you learn Zanzibar's Swahili, that doesn't ean they'll understand what you are saying in Congo.

I haven't done a scientific survey, but I did a have a cursory look at all the lists and guestimated the rankings of the various language. English is by far the first language, Then comes Spanish or French. From fourth place, things start to get more diverse. Russian, German, Mandarin and Italian would seem to be around here. What does this say?
Let's start by noting what is not there. There are nearly no African languages except Swahili and Wolof. No indigenous languages of the Americas and very few of the small minority languages of the world.
The languages most desired are obviously the the ones with the most prestige and the largest populations. This is not surprising in a sense because these are considered the most important languages in the world. One could say that the top 6 are quite predictable and that the others reflect the many varied individual tastes.
What this also says is that with English one does not need any other language to communicate with the rest of the world. If you add in French and Spanish, you really don't need anything else. An interesting thought.
