Yeah.. :D But still love for languages is the main reason why I learn them. The other stuff is more like ways to use them and if you can use them like that, than why not.. :) I read on the web a joke made by a Swedish person that speaking Danish is the same as speaking Swedish under a heavy alcohol intoxication! :D

English
Mandarin
Japanese
French
German
Spanish
Swahili
Turkish
Hindi
Arabic
I've only mentioned languages that I didn't start.
What I would like to learn:
Marathi - just seems like a cool language
Dhivedi - seems like another cool language, but I don't know if I'll ever come across resources for it
Burushaski - also seems like another cool language, but I don't know if I'll ever come across resources for it
Georgian - cool script and grammar
Slovene - it has a dual number. Plus Slovenia seems like a nice place to live
Kazakh - I want to go to Central Asia one day, and since Kazakhstan is the largest I may need it, along with Russian
Chechen - I've always wanted to try a Caucasian language with many sounds and a quite complex grammar
Avestan - a dead language, and not one that many study, but still looks very interesting
Classical Chinese - a dead language that's not quite dead, and useful for reading documents related to East Asian history
Inuit - a polysynthetic language, so I feel a need to learn it
Quite different from everyone else's lists...

If someone were to come up to me and ask me what languages he/she should study, then my answer would greatly depend on where that person is from.
However, my personal list looks like this:
1. Dutch/Flemish (my native language)
2. French (second official language in Belgium and major European language)
3. English (do I really need to explain why anybody should study this language?)
4. German (third official language in Belgium and major European language)
5. Spanish (I started studying this in school and I love the sound of it)
These are the languages I speak so far. The list continues with:
6. Swedish (I love Scandinavia and really want to master those languages)
7. Welsh (I lived in Wales for a few years and fell in love with its culture)
8. Italian (probably the language which sounds nicest of all)
9. Norwegian (Again because of my love for Scandinavia)
10. Danish (Did I already say I love Scandinavia?)
These last 5 languages are the ones I absolutely still want to learn. Portuguese, Latin, Irish and Finnish are also on my hit list but they are 2nd priority.

I constantly question my list.
1. English (native language)
The next three are my "useful" language choices, which I currently study:
2. French (other official language of Canada)
3. Spanish (major language of the Americas)
4. German (major language in Europe)
Then it gets harder to decide and the order is random:
5. Irish (because I'm eligible for citizenship)
6. Finnish (my "useless" language choice, just for personal interest)
7. Portuguese (another major language of the Americas and other countries)
8. Italian (it just seems unavoidable)
9. Russian (mainly for reading)
10. Arabic (likewise, mainly for reading, but to have access to a different world perspective)
The other Germanic languages keep jockeying for position on my list and the last six languages are all vulnerable to replacement.

Question: your native language is Dutch, yet you only have an A2 mastery of it? o_O

My personal 10 languages that I would like to achieve a smooth and proficient level in, I include my native
language in it:
Swedish
*native language, quite nice to surprise people with, because most people think i'm German*
English
*I have already achieved a satisfying level in the language*
Japanese
*currently doing intensive studies, i'm still in Japan but in 3 days will return home, a language that will
always have a significant meaning for me*
German
*will start up my studies next week, as a sideproject to my japanese, really useful while working in Sweden
during summer season, believe me*
Italian
*The same goes for Italian, I start it up as a sideproject to build up the basics so I later on can fully devote myself
to it, and have an headstart at that point*
Portuguese
*I have no interest right now to learn Spanish, that might change, but if it doesn't, this is the language i'm aiming
for, mostly for fun*
Russian
*I have started to become more and more curious about the russian language, and knowing russian can really
give you a boost in your career in certain areas*
Tibetan
*Spiritual reason, i'm a strong believer in Buddhism and like to visit Tibet when I grow older*
Dutch
*No real good reason yet, might change*
Korean
* Final challenge!*

Can say that I've got a fixed list but here goes....
English is my given languages so exclude that one.
Latin & French - were compulsory at school anyway but my father and his brother taught themselves French while I was a child so I heard a lot of that.
German - set to work in Germany so a sort of survival skill.
Russian - they taught me that before they sent me to work in Germany
Arabic - they taught me that too (Egyptian dialect)
Italian - they sent me to work in Naples, with a French team but it kind of came free
all work related. Restore all these to B2.
So my targets, with reasons are
Japanese B2 - was my first dalliance with self taught language in my teens but didn't get far at that stage but made much more progress in Japan.
French C2 - my first crush on a girl :-<
Spanish C2 - lots of good stuff and a house in Spain helps
Swedish B2 - Or one of the other Nordic languages - probably holidaying in Sweden next spring.
Sanskrit B2 - I believe its a beautiful language but am yet to try it out
Hindi/Urdu B1 - not sure my head will hold another script but Bollywood rocks
May I also be a language 'tart' and have occasional dalliances with Old/Middle English, Icelandic, Persian and Indonesian ?
