Hmmm... For me literary, philosophical and religious traditions are the most important factor determining my interest in languages, although learning to speak is a lot of fun too. My dream list is the following, presupposing knowledge of English as a native language. It's in no particular order (except for the ones I haven't studied being at the end):
1) French
2) German
3) Spanish
4) Italian
5) Ancient Greek
6) Latin
7) Arabic
8) Sanskrit
9) Chinese (Mandarin and Classical, if I can get away with counting them together)
10) Japanese
Honourable mention: Persian

Wow this is a very interesting thread !!!! Being an Indian I am fluent in English, Hindi (So called national language) and Punjabi. (Regional language) The interesting thing is that the writing systems (alphabets) are different for all three.
The first foreign language which I am trying to learn is French. I find the language very chic, and love the sounds. A large number of people speak the language.
The second foreign language that I am learning is Russian. I needed to learn a language which has a totatly different sound system, so that I dont get confused. We get a lot of Russian visitors to India. Also I like the rich culture, beautiful women etc etc !!!!
Once I master French, I will start learning Spanish. My son will start going to college in the US, and I can visit South America then. (From the US)
Once I finish Russian, I would like to learn Mandarin. I have been several times to China and would love to communicate with the people over there and to enjoy the culture more.
Once I master Spanish, I would like to start studying Portugeuese, as I wish to visit Brazil, since its a wonderful country.
If I have the energy after this (Mid 40's now) then I would go in for Arabic and Farsi. Farsi used to be the court language in India till 150 years ago. Its a very rich language, and there is very nice poetry in it. Arabic I would learn the Eastern Arabic and then Egyptian Arabic.
Other languages that is of interest to me after the above are Turkish and Japanese.

I'm on 15 right now so I hope I can continue learning languages throughout my life. Here is what I would
learn (not what the op is necessarily asking). I picked these because I love the cultures of the countries.
1. English (my native language, I only need to learn 9 to be a decaglot)
2. Cantonese (where I am currently)
3. French
4. Italian
5. Mandarin
6. German
7. Spanish
8. Korean
9. Russian
10. Japanese
I hope to complete this list one day and maybe even move on to other languages I haven't listed
