I said Tarzan speak has worked for me, and I can prove it.

I am open for anyone to test my fluency in any of the languages that I claim. Skype anyone?

Are not Hindi and Punjabi your native languages? Perhaps you were implying that your parents used the tarzan speech method to teach you these languages? LOL...Personally, I have no problem with you or anyone proposing methods to learn languages but this one is quite absurd. One should always aim for perfection in speaking a language and this method encourages laziness. I know many people who speak in a similar manner to Tarzan. Some, have been in this country for 10+ years and still don't bother to use proper word order. To conclude, learn to speak properly or don't speak at it all.

I know my posts are mature. Please don't state the obvious. I was simply addressing the fact that you have not used tarzan speech to learn a language, therefore it has not been proved an effective method.

I have lived and traveled in the countries where my languages are spoken. I have had thousands of hours of comprehensible input from communicating with people among whom I have lived and traveled. Little effort, but lots of interesting and enjoyable contact with the languages and people who speak them.

However, I pose this same challenge to Linguamor as well. However, she appears to be back-tracking now and now exclaims everything I have written is 'incoherent.' Funny how she was able to reply to all of my 'incoherent' posts in this forum. So much for incoherence.

Having read through this thread more carefully, I realize I should have said INCONSISTENT and contradictory.

He's left the forum anyway. We can probably let this thread die in peace.

This is like asking why someone who has been staring at a red wall for thirty minutes will find it harder to accurately determine the color of a new wall than someone who's been staring at the red wall for thirty seconds. Do you really think it's because the second person is intrinsically better at determining wall colors?

Learning to do something one way makes it harder to learn to a similar thing a different way. Younger people, by definition, have spent less time internalizing one language's patterns, and would be quite abnormal if they didn't find it easier to learn the patterns of new languages than people whose brains, ears, and vocal systems had been tuned to the production and interpretation of one language for decades.

Good point.
