Ooh, French is winning. I really should be focusing on French, not letting myself get distracted by beautiful Swahili or American Sign Language. So if French wins that will work out nicely!

Another vote for French. My kids are taking French. I want to have family French time. :)

I will laugh if French wins, because it's what I did for the last one! Well, I will be studying it too but I want to start a
new language in August as well.

This is the perfect motivator to ramp up my studies of Mandarin as I will be in China during part of this Challenge. I'm game!

I'd really have liked to learn turkish, but since french is such a huge favourite, I'm gonna join with french. :)
Also cool to see that so many people want to learn German and/or norwegian! I would like to help, if anyone is going to start one of those languages (or join, if there are advanced learners of norwegian).
Cheers!

I'd go for Russian, Greek, Turkish or Swahili. If the best is to know as little as possible, one of the three last would be best. I know nothing at all of the last two :-)

I'm hoping for either Russian or Persian, or possibly Finnish since I am already studying those and want to focus on them a little more in the next couple months. I might have to be slightly upset if Swahili wins because I was intending to get back to that a little later but if it's the main language of the challenge it might be too much temptation.
Later Edit: I'll participate with Russian even though it doesn't look like it'll be one of the official target languages anymore, since I already speak both German and French above an intermediate level. My Russian is probably high beginner or perhaps low intermediate.

Eh, I voted for Russian but I decided I'm not gonna vote anymore, cause I don't think I
will be able to participate in this one. I am studying abroad all August to do an
intensive language program. And I can't count it for the challenge cause it's a language
I already speak at an intermediate level. Besides, I think it would be cheating to count
it anyway...Oh well, I'll participate next time, probably with Russian! :)
