It's possible (but unlikely) that the real-life situation is exactly the same as what you encountered in books, but unless you have a really good grasp of the spoken language, you wouldn't understand what is being said, because the native speaker would invariably say it differently from what you may have learned. And then you'd find that the answer expected is different from the scenario you were taught.

Real life is different from books.

Obviously, but speeding tickets are a fairly routine type of business, there isn't too
much variation there and context will help you out.
