Nothing to report here either (still getting used to going to work after 2.5 weeks of Christmas holiday...).

Not much to report, but nevertheless more than nothing: yesterday I used Abair once again to read some sentences aloud. And as I have written in my log I read much of the Kauderwelsch booklet once again during my holiday, but since then I have been quite busy with my job and other obligations. I expect to get back into the regular copying-lookingthingsup-makingwordlist routine in this week.

PS: and today 29 Jan I analyzed one more sentence. With this speed I'll have finished the article about Modern Hebrew sometime next year. But at the same time I'll have stumpled over most of the things which makes Irish a challenge.

So, month one down! How's it going for everyone? Is anyone planning monthly goals, like
I've seen on someone forum members' logs? I know that from the 18th of this month I'll be
very busy for five weeks (college work placement) so I'll get very little study done
during that period, but once that's over I get two weeks holidays, all smooth sailing
from there!

I missed one day of Breton, otherwise I am on track.

I've started over with Assimil Le Breton, because I got a liiiiiittle off-track. Ma digarezit, Clan Lugus! I'm going to try
and be more like tarvos with my Breton studying from here on out.

I've given myself a mini-goal for February: write a letter to a Breton friend.

Chañs vat ganeoc'h!

I have 6 more lessons to go before I finish the Assimil passive wave. I can honestly say
one thing: I can construct a sentence in Breton, but it's not elegant. I also have an
idea of how the grammar works, but I can't pinpoint some details.

And whether my pronunciation is any good nobody knows because who knows what I sound like
when I'm talking to my PC screen.

Some activity here - I have just made a number of bilingual texts for closer study, including some excerpts from the homepage of Glór Bhalana, known in English as Ballon Village. When I first saw I thought it was a joke or an mistake made by Google Translate, but is seems that the real name in English is Ballon Village (with one o). Another text in the set is a dire warning from senator Pearse Doherty against cutting 58% off the money spent on Gaelic in the Gaeltacht.

Besides I have a peek at the lyrics of "Óró, sé do bheatha abhaile", which seems to quite popular in Eire. But I didn't make a printout of this.

Tarvos, have you tried looking for any Breton forums? I can imagine it's hard to come on
native/fluent speakers on the internet. I've only met one, who can be found over on
another Irish forum. He certainly knows his stuff, and is an expert on dialects of Irish
and Breton, as well as (to a lesser extent, I think) other Celtic languages. I'm sure he
could point you in the right direction in terms of native, authentic pronunciation. Give
me a PM if you wish and I'll direct you to him.

I've been tipping away myself, currently writing an essay on Gàidhlig for college. I'm
going to be VERY busy from this week until the Easter break with an intense college
placement so I really won't get much study done at all, perhaps just a movie on the
weekends.
