I think it's always nice to keep the team thread talking, even if there are other resources out there. Our god parents add a bit more knowledge to the dry information of grammars etc. I got a couple of answers on Turkish greetings, and understood some things that only a native could have added. You always get an extra piece of valuable information, asking a native speaker a question.

So, I know we can't edit the first post anymore, but I think I'd like to change my status in the group from observer to active participant. Going in I wasn't sure how consistent I was going to be with my Russian studies, but I've gotten quite wrapped up in the language, and now it seems to be taking up more of my study time than anything else I'm working on. And so far I've really enjoyed this group and the challenges, and I'd like to try and hold myself to completing as many of them as I can.

Do any of you have a profile on вконтакте ? I would be interested in trying, but I am not quite sure how to
access it.

I have a profile on VK. You can set the settings to English if you're not confident
enough in your Russian, you set it up the same way you do with Facebook (that is, you go
to www.vk.com and you sign up for an account and fill out the information just like you
do when you register at other websites.

Actually, as far as I know, the site is no longer legally accessible from Italy. They blocked it with a few other sites a couple of months ago because of piracy concerns and you can imagine the uproar from all the Italian users who posted there for legitimate purposes!

I’m becoming more and more aware of how dismally ignorant of Russian music I am!
To be fair, I haven’t had much time for the challenge yet, but clearly I have almost no idea where to start.
I’ll probably end up learning a popular song like Очи чёрные. Actually, that’s not a bad idea: I should probably look for an online video of that and start singing along!

Hahaha, you can find anything illegally on VK. It's beautiful that way. The Dutch haven't
blocked it yet though.

Oh friends and друзья,
this is great news! YnEoS has found a way to work around the editing bug, so I can update the first page again!
As for now, I have only updated the members and their logs. I'll add our challenges and those who successful completed them later or tomorrow.
I'm really happy right now! :)

I stumbled оn Rockin Russian hоstеd by thе Univеrѕity оf Техаѕ in Аuѕtin which is designed to teach Russian using music videos. You may find this handy for sharpening your passive abilities while getting more acquainted with Russian pop music.
