fireballtrouble - I am not talking about a different book. Assimil has made a couple
of mess ups that have caused confusion.

Mess Up 1

The edition of German With Ease labelled as being by Gudrun Roemer on Amazon is in fact
the old Hilda Scheider edition that has been reset. Here it is at Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/German-Ease-New-Book-only/dp/270050527 1/ref=sr_1_2?
s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1393669055&sr=1-2&keywords=Gudrun+Roemer

However, it is reviewed here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHSKHVg35jA

As you can see, the author page is filmed and it is in fact written by Hilda Schneider.

This is the same German With Ease that used to have this cover:

http://www.amazon.com/German-Ease-English-Speakers-book/dp/0 828843112/ref=sr_1_7?
s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1393668883&sr=1-7&keywords=Assimil+Germa n+WIth+Ease

Mess Up 2:

To make matters worse, it appears Gudrun Roemer and Maria Roemer are the same person -
they have the same photograph on the Assimil website (compare L'Allemand, Collection
Sans Peine and German With Ease). Look at the 'Biographie' drop down:

http://fr.assimil.com/methodes/german-with-ease

http://fr.assimil.com/methodes/l-allemand

You are correct that the L'Allemand is only in French at the moment. Assimil's 2014
catalogue says that it will be available in English in April 2014, although I have read
here somewhere that this has been delayed by a year.

Maybe I misread the 'next' April they told you as next year April. Although I have 'done' it in French, it would
be nice to have the English version next month.

Oh, yes. Maybe it doesn't reflect that well on Assimil that their replies to English
speakers are sometimes not so clear, haha. But they said "next" March as well for the
English-based Spanish and they already have the page up for Spanish and it will be for
sale soon. So I think it is fair to guess the English-based German will be available next
month (April 2014) unless there is another separate, delay.

If you have done the exact same course from the French base, wouldn't you find it quite a
waste of money to get the same course in an English base?

Such is the pain of a compulsive language book collector... :-)

I also found it quite hard going for the last 20 lessons and I am not sure if I
understood the French grammar notes properly.
