NEW VHS-PROGRAM
Today I could browse through the new VHS-program for the first time. The next Danish course is offered there, I can register in January. So that suits me fine. There is only one Turkish course which is not a zero beginner course and they use the "Güle Güle" book, which I have already worked through with my study partner. So that's no option for me. I cannot continue my English conversation course, because I work part-time. And in the evening there is no suitable offer for English conversation. But there's a good French conversation course of B1-B2 level which takes place in the afternoon. So I intend to do the next Danish course and the French conversation course.
And I will buy the new edition of my "Günaydin" book, because I have the first edition of 1985. There you can encounter some really outdated sentences such as "Ich möchte ein Telegramm aufgeben". I already have the answer-key of 2002 and I have now ordered the textbook of 2002. Otherwise there are always discepancies between the old textbook and the answer-key.

FINAL STATEMENT INDIVIDUAL TAC 2010 TURKISH / DANISH
My TAC 2010 starts on page 55 of this log. During the whole TAC year I studied both languages. For Turkish it was a whole year of self-study with two different textbooks "Lextra Sprachkurs Türkisch" and at the end of the year "Günaydin". For Danish I did self-study with my textbook "Einstieg Dänisch" until September when my VHS Danish course started and we used the book "Vi snakkes ved" for this course. I was capable of managing two languages at a beginner level, but this is also my maximum. I couldn't start a third new language. It was and will be no problem for me to attend a conversation course in one of my at least basic level langages, in this case it was an English course.
In summer 2010 I had a study gap of 6-8 weeks, where my my health wasn't good enough to study languages. At the same time I felt a kind of pressure to perform well in the TAC, which wasn't possible during this study gap. This was a difficult situation for me. But I managed succesfully to get my language studies on track again.
One part of my language activities are Skype conversations. I had regular Skype contact in 2010 and I will continue this in 2011. So my thanks to Amir, Torbyrne and Elizabeth who gave me the chance to practise 8 languages on the phone.
On goal of mine was to get a thinking level in Turkish and Danish. In Turkish I made no progress with this goal, because it seems as if self-study is not enough to reach this. With Danish I have made quite some progress and the VHS Danish lessons have the effect on me that they cause Danish thoughts. So partly I was thinking in (easy) Danish not only on the evenings, when I has the class lessons.
OUTLOOK ON THE TEAM TAC 2011 TURKISH / DANISH / FRENCH(?)
My plans for the TAC 2011 which I will do with a teammate (= Sierra) this time in our Team "yumusak G" are that I will continue my Danish course at the VHS and my Turkish self-study. In July 2011 I plan to participate in the "Universala Kongreso" of Esperanto in Copenhagen. I will just continue with the same textbooks in any case until the Kongreso.
What I haven't yet decided - but it's an idea - is, whether I should prepare a French language exam (= DELF level B1) which would take place in January 2012. I would like to do this project, but it would mean that I have to put my studies of Turkish and Danish on hold after the Kongreso. I would need half a year of preparation for the exam in any case. I still have some months of time to decide and also my financial and professional situation will play a role. I think I can make such a decision in June/July 2011. In any case I don't expect my Danish VHS course to continue in autumn 2011, because we are already now only a small group of participants.
I wish all TAC 2011 participants (indivduals and team-members) and my teammate Sierra good luck for the TAC 2011!

SELF-WRITTEN TURKISH DIALOGUE: Postanede (= In the post office)
I am now busy working through Unit 6 of "Günaydın" and one task is to act a dialogue in a post office. As I am studying alone, I cannot act anything, but I could at least write such a dialogue. I would kindly ask a native speaker Turkish for corrections.
Memur: Günaydın, efendim. Buyurun.
Ali: Günaydın, memur Bey. Bana Türkiye'ye için posta pulu lazım.
Memur: Posta pulu var. Kaç tane?
Ali: Beş tane, lütfen.
Memur: Buyurun, efendim.
Ali: Beş tane pul ne kadar?
Memur: 5 x 25 = yüz yirmi beş (= 125) Lira.
Ali: Tamam.
Memur: Başka bir şey istiyor musunuz?
Ali: Bir de paket göndermek istiyorum.
Memur: Nereye?
Ali: Danimarka'ya lütfen. Bu ne kadar?
Memur: Bir dakika. Üç yüz elli (= 350) Lira. Başka bir şey?
Ali. Hepsi bu kadar. Teşekkür ederim. Size dört yüz yetmiş beş (= 475) Lira veriyorum.
Memur: Teşekkür ederim, efendim.
Ali: Görüşmek üzere.
Memur: Güle güle.

Impressive statistics!
As for your Danish VHS course I doubt that you need it after the summer holiday. When you already can write and think in a language you are leaving the stage where you need special courseware, and then it is more a question about using the language in practice.
I can recognize your problem with Turkish from my own problems with Russian - at this stage I can to some extent think in Russian, but only right after a solid dose of listening and reading, and that happens far too rarely due to other commitments.
I'm still pondering whether I'll participate in the Esperanto congress 2011 (or part of it) - the price tag seemed quite high when I checked it earlier this year.

That's a good decision because both books differ really. I once worked up to lesson 10 of the latest Günaydın and I had been surprised over the sheer amount of new vocabulary in each lesson. For you it will be defintely easier because you already worked more on Turkish. The second and third volume of Gündaydın are indeed very interesting and challenging. Although I don't study Turkish right now, I intend to pick it up again later.
Good luck with your Turkish and of course Danish studies!

I have already started studying with the new Günaydin of 2002 and now the book matches with my answer-key. I should have bought this new book earlier, but it costs 29,90 EUR. So to see it's worth the invested money! I am busy with Unit 7 and up till now the exercises are very easy for me and the grammar is wellknown. In the later units a large heap of vocabulary is presented and it will be a lot of work for me to learn them all. But the methods used in Günaydin are excellent, I like this systematical approach very much.
