HOLIDAY BUSINESS ENGLISH MEETINGS
Some years ago I attended a business English course at the VHS Düsseldorf together with a woman who is now my business English conversation partner. During my school holidays we will have regular meetings again. We will only speak English and read articles of the German magazine (written in English) Business Spotlight.

STUDYING THE ANIMALLIST OF THE ZOO COPENHAGEN
The animallist of the Zoo Copenhagen is 33 pages long (without the supplements) so I will need some days to study it all. The important animals I will write in my vocabulary book Danish - German. I may later put several animals into my blog by adding the Dutch translation. But this source prevents me from making mistakes with the Danish animal names. So I can learn the correct Danish words by heart. I can foresee that this project will keep me busy this week, so my textbook learning will have to wait.

ANOTHER STUDY-SESSION OF THE ANIMALLIST OF THE ZOO COPENHAGEN
I spent the evening in the mediothek reading the newest issue of "Bild der Wissenschaft", but then I wanted to continue studying the animallist, which which is 33 pages long. I like this list very much because it is not alphabetical (like the animallist of Krefeld Zoo) but the animals are grouped biologically. So I continued copying Danish animal names with their German equivalent into my vocabulary book. I am now done with the majority of it, only the reptiles and the amphibes are missing. So I will deal with these tomorrow. The study rooms are empty and quitet now, because the pupils are on holidays, so I can sit there on my own.

MY TRILINGUAL ANIMALLIST
I have now completed my trilingual (Danish - German - Dutch) animal list of common zoo animals and other ordinary animals.
In total I collected 61 animal names with their appropriate translations. There will not be any more Danish mistakes, because I took the Danish animal names from the zoo list and then translated them with the help of their English names as a hint.
You can find the list devided into three posts in my blog:

I am pleased to read that Torbyrne shows interest in the result of my trilingual animal list. I find it rewarding to know that there are others who see a value in this amount of work and can use it for their own language learning. :)
Next week I will be in the launderette which is an excellent place not only for washing but also for vocabulary learning and MP3 - listening excercises.
This weekend I will write job applications - I have to deal with this because my school job is not a permanent job. When this portion is done, I am free to concentrate on language learning again.

SELF-STUDY DANISH: Unit 14 of "Dänisch Neu"
I got a reaction of one of my friends: She is very surprised that I continue my studies of Danish! I explained her that it is not my style of learning to study a language just for an event and then hop from one language to the next (without even having reached the intermediate level). Without the Esperanto Congress I would have started with Danish some years later but apart from that I am used to studying languages without travelling around.
Today I studied Unit 14 of my textbook and workbook "Dänisch Neu" which deals with the grammar topic of Danish adjectives. This topic wasn't new for me, so it wasn't diffcult to do the excercises.
Before when my Danish was on a lower level, I had difficulties to use my Danish grammar book "PONS Grammatik kurz & bündig Dänisch", because I had difficulties pronouncing the words and not enough previous grammar knowledge. But with my vocabulary knowledge and pronouciation ability now I can better make use of this grammar book.
It is also a strategy of mine to make use of resources when their level is appropriate. If necessary I put a book aside until I have aquired enough previous knowledge. So I will put aside my Danish magazine "Illustreret Videnskab" and read my other books which I bought in Copenhagen first.

MIN NY BOG: GALILEI OG UNIVERSET
Today I spent my time sitting in the launderette and reading a health magazine in German but as well I read my new Danish book "GALILEI OG UNIVERSET" intensively. It has only 31 pages and nice illustrations and an adequate language level for my knowledge of Danish - so this fits me well. In the back of the book there are definitons of some for me wellknown astronomy expressions. For example "kredslöb", "librationer", "lufttryk" and "hydrodynamik" are explained in Danish. For me it's exciting to read how the Danish language is expressed dealing with such topics. I can imagine well that I will read this book perhaps 10 times in total, each time understanding a bit more Danish...
