23 minutes of Arabic TV 71.28 minutes of FLR 20.92 minutes of Anki Total cards in Anki deck: 374 Hours Studied Today: 1.92 Total Hours: 57.57 Weekly Average: 1.51 Total Average: 0.98 I have noticed that I tend to hit these streaks of not really wanting to go through the book every few weeks. As good as the wrote studying is for me, it ultimately bores me after a while and I need a little break from it (namely, the weekend). I think that ultimately this is something I need to embrace and allow myself to not feel guilty about not studying over the weekend. I am once again a chapter behind, but once I finish that chapter I will be halfway through TY. I also found a website today for children's books in Arabic or Arabic-English which I think I may buy a couple of them in the next week or so. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I have recently experienced a similar feeling with Italian and I am sure you will come

At some point not working overnights will be nice. @magictom123 I was still doing my Anki work somewhat, but I really just stopped altogether. I had a busy week with work and singing funerals in which I did not get the proper amount of asleep and was thus falling asleep at work when I would normally study. This week is not much better time wise, but I'm going to try to up my intake of coffee in hopes that it will boost my energy. Since we're already halfway through March, am I correct to assume that you'll be soon
finishing up with Arabic and will be resuming your study of Italian? Do you plan on maintaining your Arabic, or just leave it entirely until next year? I plan on taking a break from Spanish after the DELE B2 exam and classes finishing up in May, and to begin hardcore study of Italian (and Icelandic!), but I'm worried that I'll lose the fluency in Spanish that I've come to acquire since January. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

It's been a while since I wrote anything here. I have suspended my Arabic studies for the year. I simply burned out.
I believe that I did not have a good method laid out for myself and thusly lost interest (not in the language, but in the studying). I have since moved on to French. I am currently working my way through the French in Action videos and Assimil. In addition, I have a friend from Cameroon who I say about 4 days a week and I talk with him nearly completely in French. I am nearly ready to list myself as speaking French on my profile here. I skipped Italian for the moment because I am content with my current level at the moment and I really need to bring up my French and German for potential Graduate Schools (I'm an opera singer, so these and Italian comprise most of my repertoire). I am hoping to be to a comfortable level in French by mid-summer and then move on to German. I am not ruling out the possibility though of staying with French until I have reached a very high level of fluency. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Today I decided to list myself as having basic fluency in French. Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that my ability in the language has skyrocketed. I am now having lengthy conversations with my friend from Cameroon on a variety of topics with relative ease both written and verbal. I am going to start reading Camille by Dumas in the next few days and I feel that I have a pretty decent grasp of the language, I'm still going to continue to focus on French until I reach the highest level possible, though.

Since I have to stand by this printer and un-jam it every two seconds I figure that it's a good time to write an update. I am currently on leçon 17 of Assimil and coming along well. I have currently ceased my French in Action work because I kept falling asleep during the videos. I find however that I am still progressing well in French. I have noticed that I have a hard time understanding French over the phone though. I have had to just resort to English when talking to my friend. I am not sure if this is a comprehension issue or simply that the phone connection is not very good. Any thoughts?
Wanderlust: I recently came into possession of Kodály's Psalmus Hungaricus and it has illicited an urge to learn Hungarian. Today I looked through some basic pronunciation rules for the langugage. Luckily, money prevents me from buying any new supplies, and my priorities are strong enough that I can wait for Hungarian. Some day though I will sing this gorgeous work.
