Oh the biggest time sink ended up being adding vocab to the cards.
Which is unavoidable.. I mean I can copy and paste a card pretty
quickly to midori but I think it's worth it to include the kanji and kana
and English etc.

But learning the words is the purpose of Anki, so you just have to do it. ;)
Personally, I also find having 4 context lines helpful (2 before and 2 after) in case
aa line ends with a comma, or is the second part of a sentence, etc.

I don't actually use subs2srs for reviewing at all. I just use it to basically go through episodes I was finding a bit tricky on a line by line basis. Although now I've upgraded to Anki 2 I guess that might become a bit trickier.
As far as timings go I just set subs2srs to include a buffer, which usually manages to catch most stuff when the timings are slightly out.

Well I showed my friends in class the subs2srs deck I made that I was so proud of. They were politely
impressed heh. I'm not able to really tackle it right now because of the speech coming up the weekend. I'm
discovering that my memory power wanes incredibly with lots of people looking at me.

I'm curious what it would be like in a class where the Japanese teacher spoke all Japanese all the time. I bet I'd like it a lot. I'm hoping to go to Japan to take a course of some kind and I'm pretty sure they don't use English to teach their language to foreigners.. I hope.

The Tucson Speech contest will be this Saturday. I'm nervous obviously although I honestly don't care about the outcome I know it'll be embarrassing as hell no matter what, and more so if I suck. So I'm looking forward to it being over. I haven't said the speech perfectly from start to finish as I wrote it but it's close enough to be good.. but that's not in front of people. In front of people my mind goes blank. So I'm hoping I learn it even better.
When this is over I'll be able to spend more time studying. When the class is over I'll have loads more free time too heh.

Good luck with the speech contest! Just remember that most of the other participants will be just as nervous as you.

I'm looking at the quality of the scans of Japanese Manga online and I was thinking that they were just
cheaply printed to keep costs down but now that I'm looking I think it's the scanning that's low quality. Well
maybe the comics themselves are low quality paper etc but not so low quality as to be illegible. It looks like
they scan it in black and white mode and not at very high resolutions - so the files are very small. If scanned
in greyscale and at 300 dpi or higher the files would be really big. So I'm going to order some manga online
and see if I'm right. If I'm right, well then manga might be a good way to get going, but it's also a shame that I
can't really use the stuff online and have to order it.
