Wow, the CouchSurfing meeting was awesome!
First I had a very interesting conversation (in English) with a Finnish guy traveling around Brazil, great guy.
Then, I met a Russian girl who's here for a Portuguese course and will be leaving next week. We began in Portuguese, but when I said I spoke Russian she switched to it and we went on for almost half an hour, and then her friend arrived (another Russian girl whom I already knew before) and we continued in Russian for some time. They said that since my wife doesn't speak Russian to me, they will help me practice it, yay! Haha
Finally my Italian friends arrived and (thank God) one of them doesn't speak Portuguese, so we could speak only in Italian. Every time I speak Italian it makes me wanna live there, live the language....maybe in the future =)
So it was basically it, English, Russian and Italian, and a very fun night with nice friends. I can't wait until next tuesday! =)

Sounds good! I've not been to the CouchSurfing meetings in my city yet, but I'm actually thinking of going for the first time tonight, and your post has encouraged me further. I'm wondering if it might be a better way to meet speakers of my target languages than the language meetups I go to, as it's obviously an international crowd and I imagine a lot of people of my age and with similar interests go there. I'll report back!

So the 6 Week Challenge has finally started! As I said before, I decided to go with Dutch, since I had stopped learning it when I started with French, and I need to get back to where I was (around lesson 54 in Assimil) and then move on. I started listening to some lessons and from what I can tell, I still have a good passive knowledge of the language. The main problem will be the active part, but since I'm already at the beginning of the active phase, I guess it'll help a lot!
Besides that, this week's CS meeting was awesome again. A lot of English and Russian practice. It was funny to see that one of the Russian girls who was there could not believe that I spoke Russian. Every sentence I said, she'd have a shocked look on her face and ask repeatedly "Do you really speak Russian!?!?" hahaha
And finally my wife is speaking in Russian with me! \o/ Yay! I'm going at least 3 days a week to the gym, and so far she has kept her promise.

Glad to see that my team mates are still studying! You're lucky to have so many opportunities to practice!

Bon courage!
