This has nothing to do with Arabic, but I just noticed a remarkable improvement in my ability to read Urdu.
I cannot read it as well as I can read English. Nor do I understand every word. But I can read it faster today than I could last month.

Did sections B to E of FSI Levantine Arabic.
So far, I haven't had any problems with the drills.
I'm going to grab a quick lunch and start lesson 5 of Madinah Book 1. :-)

I watched the videos for Lessons 6, 7, and 8. I will do the exercises tomorrow.
Up till now, I have watched 3 of the 9 DVDs in Book 1.

Hey Napoleon, you are doing so well! I found out today that I am a little bit ahead of
my Arabic learning partner in Mastering Arabic, so I am really happy about that! So I am
going to take a day or two to kind of review and make sure I am understanding everything
before I move on to Chapter 6. I am going back through the previous lessons of FSI MWA
and writing down all of the words that I didn't care about learning so that I will have a
key to help me read in later sections where there is so much reading. However.... I am
wondering if this is soon going to get over my head because there are no vowels marked!
But I guess if they stick to the vocab they have introduced, I should know what the words
are... hopefully! :-)

Thanks Nancy.
It's great you're making such progress. I'll have to pay more attention to FSI MWA if I don't want to fall too far behind. :)
I discovered something interesting today, but not entirely surprising. Not everyone finishes the Madinah book.
On a whim, I went to lqtoronto's youtube channel and recorded the number of times each video from Book 1 had been viewed.
The first video has been viewed 23,942 times. The second has 8,396 hits.
Then, the chart falls off a cliff. The last one has only been watched 810 times.
Of the 25,000 who started out, only 800 make it to the end.
The bad news first:
I have a 3% (approx.) probability of finishing the book.
Now, the good news:
The graph becomes steady around the 20th video (DVD 4). People who have finished DVD 4 are more likely to finish the series.
So, if I make it to video 20, I'll probably make it through Book 1.
I am on DVD 3 now. I still have an entire DVD to cover before I can relax. :)
