My teacher told me all about "Andropov's Ears". However, she was talking in Georgian at the time so I was little the wiser by the end! It's a famous arch or some architectural site in Tbilisi, right?

From your postcard I can figure out that your friend's name is Lisbet, you are going to the Black Sea tomorrow, and that the weather is good. Not sure about the rest though.

The sentences on my pseudo-Georgian postcard were either taken directly from a language guide or made by inserting one word in a sentence from that source - as far as remember I used a Kauderwälsch booklet. No garantee for grammatical correctness, though...

Be victorious, Lisbeth (allegedly a greeting used in Georgian letters)
Splendid am-I
V.I. Lenin is gone
money is also gone
I go tomorrow
(to) the Black sea
Is fine the weather and-hot
Goodbye

"Andropov's Ears" is a building with several big arches side by side

YOUR VIDEO OF MODERN GREEK

I watched your video of Modern Greek. Besides my school experience with Anicient Greek I don't understand anything of the spoken language of Dimotiki. In this video you have improved your way of showing books to the audience a lot. Now I had the chance to read booktitles, at least of the larger writings. There seems to be a technical problem with your camera because the background in this video is unsharp only you as a person in the foreground are sharp. In your other videos it isn't this way. I don't know which kind of phototechnical problem this is. But perhaps you can solve it for your upcoming new videos.

So, the Modern Greek video is out now. But not without problems. Only when I had compiled and uploaded it I discovered that the start section was missing. So I built that again from the original recordings. But I was not too happy about it, so I recorded a whole new Greek section ... unfortunately with as many errors and tongue slips as the original recording. But now I have uploaded it, and I'm not going to make more changes.

By the way, I can see that I'm looking far too much at the little window with my humble self at the center of my computer screen. I'll have to do something about that. But I do think that I have followed Fasulye's suggestion and shown my books for slightly longer time. Making videos is a hard job!

Now the video in Esperanto is also made and uploaded, and it went fairly smoothly (especially considering that I have never spoken this language before). I mention the upcoming world conference in Copenhagen in the video. I checked its homepage and was somewhat stupified to see that participation for an outsider would cost 200 € - quite high - but maybe the going rate for such arrangements.

ESP: Iversen, mi reagis sur via You Tube kanalo al via video en Esperanto. Bone farita!

So, now my Dutch video is also finished, and I did it in just two takes - one for the Dutch part and one for the English summary. While it was being compiled and uploaded I made wordlists from a couple of tourist booklets from Singapore, one in English and the other in Bahasa - actually I thought that the Bahasa used in Singapore (in between all the English speaking) were the Malayan variety, but the unknown words are generally found in my Indonesian dictionary - so maybe I should add that language to my 'studies' list to the left.

And now I'm listening to lectures in Danish on Danish television - right now something about light and chemical reactions, and before that something about changes in the microstructure of metals when they are being belaboured.

Unfortunately I'm running out of languages now. My Russian pronunciation is terra incognita - I don't have any idea about its closeness (or the opposite) to actual Russian pronuncation, but I have my doubts. And this also applies to Afrikaans because it has been virtually impossible to find spoken Afrikaans on the internet (apart from minutelong snippets on Youtube). I have heard a fair amount of Scots and Norwegian, but not trained speaking them. I also study 2 x Bahasa plus Irish, but they are not ready for public presentation. And on top of that I'm actually thinking about learning to pronounce Old French and maybe even Old Occitan - but all in all I doubt that I can continue making one video per day with new languages.

By the way:

Horats: sapere aude .... this Latin quote just popped up on my screen. I can't really disagree... The problem is that knowledge for common Danes according to the last lecture had been transmogryphed into knowledge about what the former X factor judges are doing right now.

UNIVERSALA KONGRESO
