Hi,
Can anyone point me in the direction of some Sami recourses? I'm aware it's a rare/small group, and a quick google
search has not yielded much.
Thanks in advance

You may want to check this thread:
Scandinavian/Nordic language resources (scroll down to davidwelsh's post)

I'm quite sure that forum member Chung has posted something as well, but I can't find anything at the moment.

Chung actually did a profile on the Saamic languages:

Hey, thanks, the profile is petty extensive and has some good starting points. Looks like I'll need to try and learn
some Norwegian as a gateway language first : )

Ah, on further inspection, there are some Saami - Russian materials. Excellent

I'd recommend the Gulahalan free online course. The vocabulary lists are Sami/Swedish, but you can use an online
dictionary to translate the Swedish terms into English. I've made Sami/English
BYKI vocabulary lists for the first few lessons of the course, which
should be enough to get you started at least:)

There is indeed a bit of material that uses Russian as the intermediary language but as far as I can tell it's only for Kildin Saami. If your goal were to study Inari Saami or Skolt Saami, you're better off to know Finnish to at least a high-beginner's level to use what's available. For the remaining Saamic languages in print, you're you're indeed better off getting at least a high-beginner's grasp of Norwegian (or Danish or Swedish, I suppose) so that you can likewise use what's available in those languages.

Was going to ask, does Sweden not have a Sami minority up north in Norrland?
