Hi everyone.
Can anyone recommend a good language learning app? I have Rosetta stone but I cant use it on the iPad and was wondering if anyone had tried some of the apps available and could recommend one. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread, if it should go in another area please let me know.
Thanks!

You've got Anki for al your flashcard needs. Other than that you're gonna have to specify what language
you'e studying.

Anki sure isn't available for iPad/iPhone unless you wanna pay 25$ for it... I'm
currently looking for a free alternative (even though I love Anki!)

Let's think of this reasonably:
There's nothing wrong with spending $25 to get ANKI on your ipad or iphone. if someone TRULY cares more about their language learning, then paying $25 to have your study materials in your pocket everywhere you go is not a lot of money to ask for. btw, how much do backpacks cost? and yet still, this can become inconvenient--especially when you already carry a phone (or ipad) everywhere with you.
since that monetary exchange of purchasing ANKI for ipad/iphone offers a proven, mobile tool that will save the purchaser a TON of time, not to mention awarding the purchaser with much convenience, then that monetary exchange actually reflects that person's appreciation and respect for the application's author. *Sigh*
personally, i truly care about my language learning. and for the price of taking someone out to a good dinner and maybe a drink, ANKI mobile is completely worth it to me.

You can use the free mobile web version if you dont want to pay for it. That's what I do. Just type in ankiweb.net into the web browser. It'll sync with the program on your computer :)

Also, giving some money to the developer who has put so much effort into creating this wonderful tool is a Good
Thing. It means he'll continue improving and updating it.

As noted above, Anki (and various other flashcard / SRS applications) are available for several platforms (computer, tablet, and mobile phone). However, many of the other language-related apps are language specific, so (as Ari noted) we need to know your target language(s) first before making many more suggestions.
