Wow, I didn't realize that creating the geekiest TAC team ever
( http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?T ID=30251, East
Asian + Swahili and wanderlust) and making Esperanto a requirement would cause that
much of a jump in interest! ;-)
Seriously, I am happy that you are ready to give it a chance.
My plans for the February 6 Week Challenge are already set: I will be part of the
Special Challenge, studying Finnish.

For the other challenge times, Japanese and Indonesian will probably play a role, and
an unknown 4th.

Yes, I have been thinking about the 6 week challenges for next year. Although I am somewhat uncertain about what will be going on in my life next year there is nothing wrong with planning ahead. My list (for now) of languages for the 2012 6 Week Challenges:
February - Thai or Finnish, most likely both.
May - Polish
August - I know I will be attending a family reunion sometime in July or August, but I want to learn French
November - Undecided. I am considering German, Icelandic, Hungarian, or Russian.
My plans for August and November could, and probably will, change. The plan for February is almost set, but only studying Polish in May is absolutely certain.

Being a newcomer to this forum, I'm quite excited about the 6WC idea, and really looking forward to my first! Unfortunately the February one won't happen for me since I'll be travelling around China for a couple of months and won't have time to study regularly (any Mandarin picked up along the way will be purely incidental); but for May I think it'll be either Farsi or Russian (both of which I only just started, so picking up another new one completely from scratch would be too time-consuming, unfortunately.)
Already spending hours and hours every day on both of these, but hey, it'll be motivational to either keep it up or get back on track next year...

Next challenge will be the first one where my target won't be Canontese, as I am studying in Hong Kong from January to May and probably have reached intermediate level by then :) Since I'm going to study Mandarin there as well for the first time I'm thinking about going for that in February, but don't know how motivated I'll be. I'm also considering Finnish now for the special challenge :) Must decide soon!

I'd like to do a Spanish 6WC next November. Of course that's almost a year away and it entirely depends on my French and Italian progress by then so who knows, but it's something to think about. Apart from that I want to stay focused, but never say never.

This challenge was a major disappointment for me since I wasn't able to really put in much time. Still, I'm thinking of giving another chance when the February challenge comes up, possibly with Spanish this time.
Time management is a major issue for me. I don't work (that's a long story), but I have personal commitments, chores around the house, and a boyfriend who needs a lot of attention, so I've got all that going on around me. But then, I guess that'll be part of the challenge!

I'm thinking I'll take on Vietnamese for the February 6WC. For the other 6WCs...anything
from Japanese to Esperanto to Polish (again). My February plans are the only ones I can
state with anything approaching certainty.

Since I wasn't able to study as much Indonesian as I would have liked for this challenge, I will probably do another round of Indonesian in February. For the other 3 challenges, it is likely going to be Portuguese, Russian and Catalan, or maybe Esperanto.
