No Assimil Russian with Ease?

How come they've made english translations of the hungarian and dutch courses but not the russian? I don't see the logic there...

Yeah, they need more Assimil English courses. They are also missing Portuguese, and some advanced courses (Italian, and Dutch advanced for example).

I wonder if would be legal to translate at least the dialogues into English and post it online so anyone who wants to learn a language where there's not an English version can still buy the French book and use it?

Perhaps someone could contact assimil to find out? It might give them motive to produce an english translation...One would think that if Assimil had their own interest at heart they would have translated the russian course well before the hungarian. There is a much larger market.

I'm not a lawyer. However, that would be a derivative work, so no, without Assimil's permission, you couldn't. Copyright laws don't allow the translation of works without the permission of the copyright holder.

Hmmm...There's roughly 350 people on this forum learning russian, the vast majority of which are more competent in english. If we all flooded Assimil with emails requesting a translation perhaps they would be kind enough to oblige...
