And yes, the crude portmanteaus ("snowmageddon"), clichés ("perfect storm") or overused puns ("white stuff") coined and then repeated mindlessly by weather-nerds / meteorologists or weather-nerd wannabes in the media who think that they're trendy or "in-the-know" irritate me more, though. |

Yes, I have to agree here! I've heard the "Perfect Storm" meme repeated over and over again in the last day or so, but if the very similar storm on the way is also Perfect, should we downgrade the earlier version to "The Rather Impressive Storm"? But that storm had George Clooney (movie version); maybe he'll show up this time, too.

I'd be naming those storms after Lovecraftian horrors |

A great idea! Love those words. I intend to call the present atmospheric disturbance "Bah Humbug" until it's shown not to be so. I also might search my many language dictionaries for something to call it, according to what it does. Any time is a good time to learn new words.
iguanamon, I hope that your part of the Caribbean came through it OK.

oh have I ever learned my lesson here.
When it happens to you it doesn't have a name or word in any language.
It hit us hard. House was wrecked by storm surge floodwaves, Staying with friends for now. No phone, computer, electric light,or even a clock since . . . I don't know It has all been one long, cold, dark, wet, filthy unreal nightmare.
I'm still in shock and exhausted. It will take a while to get past this.

meramarina, that is horrible! I hope your situation will improve soon!!!
Here, in lower Manhattan, we had no heat/hot water/electricity until Friday night, but that's nothing compared
to what you're going through... To have your house wrecked, what a nightmare...
