Hi all,

I'm new to this site and I'm so happy to read all your tips! I'm learning Italian (it's the first time for me learning a language...) so I'm finding it pretty tough. I would really appreciate any tips about how to learn the language better (e.g. msuci websites, etc).

many thanks

Welcome to the forum!

Assimil Italian is stellar, been using it myself - highly recommended, definitely! In short, I guess you could say it makes it 'not tough' :-) so check that out if you're interested. It should be fun - and is, if you find the right course.

Don't know what kind of music you're into, but there's tons of stuff available on Youtube, on Spotify, etc. I've only just gotten started looking for Italian music, so I'm mostly still listening to the stuff I found first, but you could try looking for stuff from Sanremo (a major music festival in Italy) so that you find some artists you like and then just find more things they've done (yay 'Related Videos'!). Don't limit yourself to the newest music, according to some Italians it's gotten a lot worse since the early 90s so it might be worthwhile going even further back, although there are still good things out there. Some of the ones I listen to are Loredana Bertè, Mia Martini, Enrico Ruggeri, Ivano Fossati, Giusy Ferreri... But no guarantee you'll like any of those, so just have a look around and see what you find. I'm a big fan of using music for language learning so I'm glad we have Youtube and the like...

Some resources, I haven't looked at all these yet though:

Rai's Youtube channel

Rai Radio

Free recordings of La Divina Commedia

Italian podcasts

Newspapers: Corriere della sera, La Stampa, La Repubblica

Internet Bookshop Italia, has everything you could possibly want and ships internationally. Already used these guys, excellent service.

And some random links collections, ebooks, free lessons and courses, online TV, radio.

Liz
