Reading and reviewing New French, I'm up to lesson 39.
In my parallel quick read and review of New French, I'm up to lesson 22.
For listen/reading Using French, I've done lessons 50-63 since the last entry.

Just a little French today. Up through lesson 68 in Using French. Read a few lessons in New French as well. Shadowed lessons 28-45 or so in New French. Started listening to Le Petit Prince again.

I finished up Using French and will have to decide whether to go at it in a fast wave, or a more thorough wave. I'll get benefit from either one. I'm thinking in the short term, I'll get the broadest benefit from the quick wave, so I'll probably do that to bump my overall comprehension up another notch before I drill deeper into the lessons.
For New French, I'm at lesson 35 on my reading track, and lesson 45 on my read the whole lesson track. I re-shadowed lessons 28-45 in the car.
I've been listening to both sets of audio in the background, and am also listening to Le Petit Prince.

I am going with a "comprehension" wave of Assimil Using French. That is, I listen to the lesson and read the French for comprehension. If I have to look at the translation, I play the recording over again until I can stay in the target language and keep high comprehension.
The first several lessons were easy. I only had to listen to them once. When I got around lesson 13, I started playing most lessons more than once. This seems like a sensible approach and won't take too long. I did 21 of 70 lessons this morning. On the Revision and Notes (the review lessons), I highlight the French sentences and see that I understand them.
This comprehension wave doesn't involve any speaking. Just listening and reading. This is the second wave approach I wrote about earlier.

I continue in Assimil Using French. I'm mixing in some third wave this time around quand la leçon n'est toujours pas bien compréhensible. If I have a good handle on the lesson, I stick to just reading the French. This flexible approach makes sense to me as some material naturally requires more attention. I'm up to lesson 40.
Back on the New French track, my "just read the French" wave has caught up with the more thorough "read the lesson, notes, exercises, and fill in the blanks" wave. I'm at lesson 45 on both waves. E.G. the slower read everything wave and the faster "just read the French" review wave.

On my wave 3 of Using French I'm on lesson 50.
I'm also around lesson 50 in the dual reading waves of New French.
I listened to Le Petit Prince and it was much more comprehensible than the last time. I'm looking forward to going through that with the Frank Ilya book again, hopefully next week.
In the background I listened to most of New French today. In the car, it was New French.
I'm thinking the two Assimil courses are laying a good foundation. I can see using them through several more waves, but I also have the itch to add an audiobook. That will probably be Jules Verne's Voyage au Centre de la Terre, which is funny, has a good recording, and a bilingual text.

Now on lesson 55 using the wave 3 approach with Using French.
New French read and review, I'm on about lesson 55 as well.
I listened through both courses in the background while working today.
