Fasulye,

I read somewhere in the forums that there are now some native speakers of Esperanto. Do you -- or any other Esperantists here -- know where I can find some information on them? I'm intrigued by this phenomenon, and I haven't found much online.

Magister, they are called "denaskulo", "denaskuloj". These are children of Esperanto parents, mostly of two different nationalities. Or children raised bilingually in the native language and Esperanto. The famous chess Polgar sisters are denaskuloj, to give an example. Only 1 % of the Esperanto speakers are denaskuloj.

Here is the Wikipedia-link about "denaskuloj" (in Esperanto):

Wikipedia's article on native Esperanto speakers and list of them may be a starting point. What else do you want to know?

For whatever it may be worth, I've met 4 of them.

Edit: I skimmed the page on denaskuloj in every language Wikipedia has it in (using machine translation for the Japanese and Korean); they vary hugely in content and quality, though the Japanese and Esperanto pages seem to be the best, and the Portuguese and Simple English the worst (both are short and contain incorrect information). This topic is a good example for the advantages of reading Wikipedia in several languages.

You're right, Volte, the English article about denaskuloj is very short and not as informative as the Esperanto-version. It gives a start to read it in English, but I know that for example people with knowledge in Romance languages who don't speak Esperanto may abe able to understand the Esperanto-version. Therfore it's useful that we quoted both Wikipedia versions here.
