To Kuikentje: I'm always somewhat sceptical about big photos because it slows down the page when you show them - but I'll make an exception in this case to help you in your future studies of Fulani/Peul. This is the alphabet part of the picture:
Apart from that: I have rejected my original video about my trip to Mali, London and Bourkina Faso - as I said I didn't like it. Instead I made a new one where I don't follow the route day for day, mile for mile, but just speak loosely about the linguistical side of the trip and the highly variable level of physical comfort.

I think that this forum's extremely slow, incredible, but it hasn't to see with the pictures at all: this forum has few ones, and the pages are nevertheless slow. It's better for the viewing if you put the large picture on the host, then put the thumbnail on your post. Therefore the picture on this forum is very, very little but if you click on that, you will see the big picture, clear and with the details. the big picture will be on the host's page.
for example, the thumbnail of your last picture

I know about thumbnails, but having the 'big' picture outside the system where the thumbnail is stored is quite smart. I'll think it over. But until then, the English language name corresponding to 'peul' seems to be "fulfulde" - at least that's how the Wikipedia in this language is called. But it has only got a few hundred articles.
I haven't written anything in this log since last week, partly because of a family visit, partly because of some menial tasks I had to do for my travel club. So when I finally found some time last night I spent it on a language which I haven't touched since I left for Africa, namely (Brasilian) Portuguese. And within this sphere I mainly studied a Brasilian homepage about astronomy, namely astro.if.ufrgs.br. And as usually I read it both for its scientific content and for the formulations, including the sentence above, which illustrates four different uses of the infinitive in Portuguese: 1) as a verbal noun, 2) after "ter que", as infinitivo pessoal with a personal ending (-em) and 4) in a 'clean' position after the verb "poder".

I hope you forgive me for writing a non language related post, but looking for the link for your last trip, I read through your tale about 26 years on Interrail. I have been on quite a number of Interrail trips myself, and could not help but smile, as I recognized some of the same events. What really took me down memory lane though, was your references to the changes in the Interrail system.
At the time I was working for NSB, the Norwegian train company, and I was sent to represent us at the meeting in the Passenger Commission of the UIC (The International Railway Union) where it was decided to keep the ticket, but divide in into zones. I still remember the anger of the Spanish delegate who saw no reason why they should transport a lot of rugged Scandinavian tourists, when almost noone from Spain used it.
And I think you are right, in that what mostly killed it off was a combination of cheap plain tickets, and reduction of night trains.

Hehe, and one funny little thing more: this last quote is actually from Facebook, where some people apparently have a group or whatever for Målførelaget ... but my Facebook page has Irish Gaelic as base language! I must inadvertantly have pressed some kind of button last time I visited that homepage (many months ago), but now I'll keep it like this:
Cláraigh Tá Mållaget, foreninga for nynorsk ar Facebook
Cláraigh le Facebook chun nascadh le Mållaget, foreninga for nynorsk.
So far I didn't publish any travelogue fra the Mali trip as text, I only made that Youtube video (with too much English and too little French speech according to Fasulye). On the other hand the description of my life as an avid interrailer only exists as text, and only in Danish.
