Wow, the weeks are starting to go by quickly. Well, spring break is coming up and I
only have one midterm to prepare for (had exams in some of the other classes already.)
I originally had two midterms to study for, but I dropped a class since it sucked.
So, with that, I'll have some more time for Korean. I signed up for an account over at
HaruKorean. It's a great site and I like it. I haven't used it for the past two days
(yesterday I spent some time at the Marines recruiting office and ate at a Korean
restaurant after that, so I didn't feel like doing anything for the rest of the day.)
I've always started going through some of Talk To Me In Korean lessons, mainly the
Iyagi lessons, but I also check out some of the regular lessons to see if there are any
grammar points they covered that I haven't or the ones I'm weak on.
Started doing the scriptorium from my grammar book again. I find that the scriptorium
is the best way I learn grammar, so I'm going back to it.
Started reading webtoons on Naver and Daum again. I've set a limit on myself that I can
only look up 5 words per chapter. I may start doing that with articles to make myself
read more. I may initially bump that number up to 10 for articles dealing with
politics, economics, science, sports, etc.
I'm still doing intensive reading in one of my novels, but I usually only go through
that a paragraph or two at a time since I'm writing down a lot of words.

I haven't done much studying this week because of Kara's Speed Up PV.

By PV I assume that means it is a Japanese release? I was actually very disappointed in how little time they spent promoting "Step" last fall in SK then went right back to Japanese promotions. Yes they are doing great in Japan (especially compared to the other Korean groups) and need to leverage that advantage, but that doesn't mean you spend *that* little time on a new release in your home country. I still rank them as my favorite group, but if they keep that crap up, they'll get bumped by groups who actually pay more attention to their Korean market.

Really? It didn't stop them from hitting 1st on several charts in South Korea once again with their latest single. ;) I agree that there are several other groups that out-perform them in SK (including most of the SM Entertainment owned groups), but Kara can still pull in big numbers there and has a significant fan base there.
My complaint was that they only performed for maybe 2 weeks tops then stopped completely, even while their song was still steadily in the top 5 on the charts for weeks afterward (and in the top 20 for a couple months afterward). Most groups perform for *at least* a month, if not a full 2-3 months per single.
Don't get me wrong. Japan seems to absolutely love Kara and they would be stupid not to take full advantage of that fact. They just need to be careful about taking their Korean fan base for granted and losing what standing they do have there. Plus a lack of focus on Korean will also keep them from taking full advantage of their 한류 status in other parts of the world. It's a tricky balancing act to please both parties but I'm hoping they can pull it off.
On the flip side their focus on Japanese releases will give me an ample starting base of Japanese pop music from a group I already know and like for when I make the transition to learning Japanese (which I still plan to do at some point).

Warp, BoA and DBSK did the same thing Kara is doing lol. BoA was even gone for five years
and that didn't hurt her popularity in Korea.
