You buy a dictionary e-book and simply change the chosen dictionary under settings! - It's only possible to use one dictionary at a time though.
Be sure to get a good quality dictionary with many words - i've got this one:

just to remind or inform everyone when you put a document into .txt format remember to to select your character set as .txt is usually set to English. I wasted a good two hours on that before I figured out what was wrong but at least I can read russian on the kindle now :-)

Just to be sure: You were able to use that on your kindle, and set it as your default dictionary with no compatibility problems?

Yep, that's right. I got the Larousse Spanish dictionary on my Kindle and am searching for a good Portuguese dictionary without such luck. It's easy to change the default dictionary.
