I just read the previous page of your thread. I do find that using parallel texts hugely increases retention for me, although it still 'boils away' quickly at the early stages if I don't keep up intense study.

Yeah, I am hopeful that when I do go back to German and LR some more with it I will trigger a lot of works... at the moment the amount of half-learned German words is a bit absurd... and also a bit frustrating for how much time into it I put in... French with parallel texts seems to be paying better dividends, although I don't know if that's because I went through Assimil first or not.

I decided based on the horrible weather around me at the moment to see how difficult it is to recapture my passive German. I'm going through Siddhartha which I have with parallel text.
I have LRed 2 hr 59 min.

I always had assumed by blogs were kind of boring being more for keeping me on track than anything else, but if you've enjoyed them, great!
My German is coming back slowly... that incredible amount of time listen-reading seems to have meant that the vocabulary is still around somewhere in my head, but it needs to be activated and then hopefully made active. This time I'm only doing assimil cause I don't really have time for more than that.
