Hey GoldFibre, forgive my ignorance, but for awhile now I've been wondering what you mean by using a "scriptorium." I made a couple feeble attempts to find some clarification on the net, but was unsuccessful. Anyway, in earlier posts it sounded like you really found it's use helpful, so that piqued my curiosity. Also, I ordered "Remembering the Traditional Hanzi" and for now am working through the free sample available for download. I must admit that after having learned a few Hanja I've already noticed them helping me break down and remember some words that I was having difficulty with.

Anyway, in closing, keep on going. I think you can reach your goal of novels by 2010. I'm planning on being right there with you.

Professor Arguelles has a video demonstration of scriptorium: Here

I don't do scriptorium anymore. I did about 30 pages of scriptorium at the time, but I think I am learning much faster now with plain old reading.

I had been in the habit of posting techniques before I had used them for any extended period, and I'm trying not to do that anymore. There is something new I have been developing for the past two weeks or so that I will probably post about soon, but I want to make sure I have really thought and worked it through before I talk about it.

I'm really getting into the finer side of Korean literature. The showcase piece in this magazine was 방귀 시합. ;)

TAC 2009 Day 35

For the first time in about two months I wasn't able to get in any meaningful active study. However, I did find a good Korean internet radio station that does about half talk and half music. I'll be listening to this at work instead of my usual iPod music. I need the practice listening to spoken Korean, so this station should be a big help.

TAC 2009 Day 37

I watched a Japanese-Korean coproduction called 26 Year Diary. About half the dialog was in Japanese, but it had Korean subtitles. It was interesting to hear the similar pronunciation of Sino-Korean words in Japanese. It also seems like in Japanese they speak three times as long for each line compared to the Korean script. Weird.

There are a lot more materials on their way, including the full set of Doraemon comics (as per Jiwon's recommendation), several anime box sets, and most of the Keroro comics. My children's books are actually getting a little dull, while my current manhwas are still a bit too difficult for the pace of reading I want to do. So there should be plenty of quality materials for me to read in two weeks or so when they arrive. Until they get here I may just focus on my videos, since forcing myself to read when I don't enjoy it will just hurt my motivation.

So 2009 is already 1/10th finished. I think I have improved a lot in that time, and I'm much more settled into methods that work well for me. I feel really good about my ability right now and the pace at which I'm progressing. I hope everyone else who is studying feels the same.
