I just placed my order for Assimil Chinese with Ease.
I was going to just order the first half, but the shipping is 19 Euros, so I decided to order both halves at the same time to save money. I was really surprised by the shipping costs.

Where did you order it from? Assimil itself? I think that Amazon.fr might be cheaper.

I have placed 2 orders with Assimil.com and they all cost 19 Euros shipping. They are expensive but there are some advantages, for one, the shipping was fast, faster that stateside shipping. Also you don’t have to guess at the ISBN number and the title, the way to have to do on Amazon.

Well, it seems I missed the delivery today and so my package will arrive tomorrow. I got a notice from FedEx today. But why is the sender's name (on the notice slip) written as COMPTE and not Assimil?

Oh boy! My package is here!! It doesn't say COMPTE anywhere on the packaging, so I don't know where the attempted delivery person got that from. It was originally picked up by Chronopost International in France. Then I guess, they gave it to FedEx. And then since FedEx doesn't delivery after business hours, they gave it to Nittsu to make the final delivery. So how many carriers does it take to send a package from France to Japan? It takes 3!
Oh wait! I found where it says COMPTE. It says to the right of Sender, COMPTE N:21399701. Underneath Sender, it says ASSIMIL. Underneath that it says, 13 RUE GAY LUSSAC.
I still don't know what COMPTE means. Is it a French word?
OK, I've got to open my package now. I'll report back later and tell you what I find.

"COMPTE N:21399701" means "Account No. 21399701". :D

Thanks CH!
I opened the package and found my two Chinese With Ease packs. Volume 1 and Volume 2. A book in each one and 4 CD audio recordings in individual sleeves. 8 CDs total.
Then I counted all the entries in the words and phrases index at the back of each book. Volume 1 has 696 entries. Volume 2 has a list of words and phrases introduced in both Volume 1 and Volume 2 of Chinese with Ease and it contains 1314 entries.
So, I guess that would mean this:
Volume 1: 696 entries.
Volume 2: 618 entries.
----------------------------------
Total : 1,314 entries.
So, there you have it. Any comments? Questions?
