I've been a member for a while here and I would read some of the threads from time to time before that but I'm only just now starting to really appreciate what a good place this is for language learners. I'm very attracted to the idea of becoming a polyglot and it's nice to talk to like-minded people. This log will be multilingual. I'm going to keep a private German journal first, so my most hideous errors are hidden, and then eventually start writing entries here hopefully in a month or two. I also hope to make a short video in German on youtube around the same time. Entries will also include thoughts expressed in my other foreign languages: Spanish and Portuguese. I imagine this log will be mostly about my musings regarding my language of focus (right now that's German), things that work for me, things that don't work for me and questions for members of the forum.
I am quite brave when it comes to chatting online in German. I am a decently fast typist and that gives me quick moments to look up words that don't come to mind or that I don't know. I also don't have to worry about accent or pronunciation. Because of this, I have been able to have basic conversations with native and advanced German speakers for as long as 30 minutes. While I feel that this is a good stepping stone, I am anxious to truly speak German in a real life circumstance for more than a few minutes without sounding foolish. There is a German lady who goes to my church who I have not yet had the courage to approach. I've heard that English speaking Germans are not very patient with English speakers who butcher their language so I want to be fairly prepared first. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Gestern habe ich in meinem anderem Tagebuch geschrieben und ich habe sehr gern geschrieben. Jedoch, ich bin nicht sicher ob ich die korrekt Worte genutzt habe oder ob meine Grammatik korrekt war. Darum, heute werde ich hier schreiben. Ihr könnt mich korrigieren wenn ihr wollt. Das ist warum ich hier schreibe.
Heute hatte ich die Gelegenheit um mit jemandem dass Michel Thomas gekannt hat zu sprechen. Es war eine gute Gelegenheit etwas über Michel Thomas zu lernen. Ich habe viele Dinge gelernt aber sie sind Privatangelegenheit und ich glaube dass es gut nicht ist dass ich hier sie schreibe. Ich lerne sehr gern über Polyglotten und eines Tages ich werde Polyglott werden. Jetzt kann ich nur Spanisch, Englisch und Portugiesisch gut sprechen und etwas Französisch und Italienisch. Eines Tages will ich zehn Sprache kennen. Ich will mehr schreiben aber ich weiß nicht was! Wir haben schönes Wetter hier in Kalifornien. Zuvor, wann ich in Utah lebte, der Winter was sehr kalt. Hoje estou cansado e não posso pensar o suficiente para escrever em alemão. Mesmo assim, consegui estudar por quase uma hora e terminei o primeiro CD do Vocabulary Builder de Michel Thomas para o alemão. Foi bom. Também consegui visitar com alguns amigos hispanos. O que faltava era o português e por isso estou escrevendo nesta maravilhosa língua neste momento. Obviamente, passo quase o dia inteiro falando em inglês e por isso acho que não preciso praticar tanto.
No inglês acho o que preciso é tentar escrever e ler a um nível bem alto. O professor Argüelles sempre ajuda com isso (rsrsrsr). Comecei o mês escrevendo muito em português em uma sala de chat com amigos brasileiros mas ultimamente não tenho tido muito tempo para isso e, neste momento, o site onde falo com meus amigos brasileiros não está funcionando porque tem pessoas demais tentando usar o site. Hoje meu irmãozinho teve o "Eagle Project" dele e fui ajudar com minha esposa. Vieram mais de 60 pessoas para ajudar a limpar e ordenar uma escola pública do bairro. Eu tive de supervisar umas sete pessoas enquanto pintávamos algumas coisas como um engradado que se usa para guardar bicicletas. Foi bom. O que foi chato foram minhas alergias. Meu pai faz tratamentos de alergias e vou vê-lo esta segunda-feira para ver se der certo. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Heute konnte ich nicht viel Deutsch lernen, darum, ich glaube dass ich hier etwas schreiben soll. Ich finde dass wann ich schreiben und plaudern ich kann mich mehr erinnern. Nächste Woche werde ich mehr Zeit haben für Deutsch zu lernen. Ich will Deutsch lernen für zwei Stunde, täglich. Wir werden sehen. Ich weiß nicht ob ich dass tun kann aber das ist der Plan.
Heute habe ich ein Video gesehen. Es ist das Video meines Freunds wo er auf Deutsch spricht. Ihr könnt es hier sehen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=agnAAflBymg. Er kann Deutsch sehr gut sprechen. Eines Tages will ich Deutsch sprechen wie gut als er. Ich glaube dass es in dem Land lernen hilfst aber ich glaube dass ich hier in den Vereinigten Staaten Deutsch lernen kann. Stuart Jay Raj hat Dänisch gelernt ohne lernen in Dänemark. Ich will eines Tages auch Dänisch lernen denn ich bin dänisch. Ich weiß nicht warum aber heute früh habe ich lust auf Deutsch zu schreiben. Da ich gewöhnlich nicht viele Gelegenheiten habe auf Deutsch zu sprechen ich muss hier mehr schreiben. Gestern Nacht habe ich nicht gut geschlafen. Ich habe Allergie gegen Bäume oder Gras, ich weiß nicht welche von ihnen. Ich bin gegangen um Behandlungen zu bekommen aber sie haben mir nicht funktioniert. Sie waren natürliche Behandlungen, ohne Medikamenten. Heute später glaube ich dass ich fahren werde um Medikamenten zu kaufen. Ich lebe wie Zombie.

Gostei do seu vídeo em português. Bem feito. Quanto tempo faz que estuda alemão? Eu não entendo quase nada, mas parece que vai bem.

Felipe: Faz quase seis meses que estudo alemão, mas, na verdade só faz mais ou menos um mês que tenho progredido com essa língua. Além de estudar todos os dias, acho que a segunda coisa mais importante no aprendizado de uma língua estrangeira é ter um bom método. Meu método para aprender o alemão antes era mais ou menos ruim, mas depois encontrei os cursos de Michel Thomas e agora posso progredir com meus estudos com mais facilidade. Tem um curso desse programa para holandês que talvez possa-te ajudar.

Não sabia que existia para holandês. Que legal! Até agora não encontrei um bom curso para esa língua. Eu tenho em casa o curso de francês de Michel Thomas. Vou ver como ajuda meu francês. Se for bom vou procurar para holandês também. Muito obrigado.
